I'm a 57 year old single, never been married pastor and can relate to much of Wesleys story. Spiritual anxiety prevented me from forming a relationship with a suitable woman when I was younger. But now I regret that I am alone. And as a strong, muscular man with high T levels, I am in constant spiritual danger. I haven't "fallen" yet, but sometimes I wonder if it is only a matter of time. The Apostle Paul wrote that it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
Can you imagine the reward that was awaiting for John Wesley when he went home to be with the Lord His God for living a life like the way he did being faithful to God amidst tyranny and when Satan himself was attacking him to stop the work for God through his evil wife!
My heart broke for you my friend. This is spiritual and you know it. And the truth must be asked for despite sircumstances. How do i solve this? That is the question you probably been asking uself for year, praying that the Lord must deliver. How do you confront these evil spirits? As a pastor u should know, less u being a hirling and not a real shepard. How do you deal with evil spirits in your church members entering up front to get prayed for? Do you cast them out? I'm just asking. Do u know how to, or do you run and hide when u see the wolf. Your church members may be bound, your wife even so. Until you step up and take responsibility and do what is actually required from your place of office, unless your just a conman, a someone who has entered the office without being called in to it, a hirling? Nothing whil happend unless you step out and take hold of the authority thats been granted unto you. May seem harsh, but the battle we fight are not for those denying the power of God. U know the scriptures, in my name, and so on. Do it!
I am watching from India/tamilnadu/tuticorin. I am part time preacher. I am sorry to hear this news. God's people suffered even within their family. I thank Jesus Christ. My wife passed away on 18.12.25. – age 82. She very much helped me to keep my spirual life.
I think a man is failed if his wife leaves him. My first wife left saying that I am just an evangelist, though I was one of the National Evanglist with a sister concern organization of Billy Graham, the sad part came when my second wife left saying he cannot live witth a person who is not able to perform marriage due to a major accident…well I blame myself for everything but this story gives me grace that I may find favour in His eyes…
The truth also is that Wesley spent.most of his wife away from home. He married and then neglected his wife. He was a man with a mission and really should never have married. But, as often occurs throughout scripture, God uses flawed people. All the great prophets had flaws and also Jesus' disciples. What I gain from John Wesley's story is that it isn't perfect people God wants, but willing ones. We can all, regardless of our faults and failures, be used by God to extend his Kingdom on earth. And we need to stop putting people like Wesley on pedastools, as though they are above other children of God.

This is deep
That was a horrific life in the hands of such a toxic woman
One vital mistake you make. John Wesley understood the advantages of a single life for God’s servants BUT he never made a vow of celibacy.

So true, whether you are a Preacher or a Christian God's Calling in our Life is important. We should pray and ask God reveal His Calling in our lives
His miserable marriage is a reflection of his theology — full of problems, mistakes, and foolishness.
What a story. It’s a lesson for all of us.
My prayers are with you.
John Wesley was a good person. His wife was the bad person
