So, Edwards spends huge amounts of time arguing with an atheist about God? Talk about a waste of time! God created mankind because of His Love. Aside from the perfect unity of the God head, we are the object of His love.
This is a distinctly one-sided representation. I've seen the fire and brimstone, I've seen the apologetics, and now I'd like to see something balanced. The fact is that Edwards believed that religion was more about emotions than logic. We're still feeling the wounds from this kind of slant on religion. Emotions over religious "beliefs" causes movements like the Salem Witch Trials, or the January 6th attack on the capitol to overturn the presidential election. Any idiot can believe something is true without evidence. I'll take logic over emotions any day of the week.
Those of you that preach religion, automatically think you know the mind of the supposed god. If that was not true, you would be terrified of “misquoting” the one you are certain “is” a god.
If you think that an evil atheist would be in trouble for refusing to believe in the existence of a god … just think of how much worse trouble you might be in for taking words out of the god’s intended context … which in turn caused shunning, bullying, and even death to those whom the god just might perceive as being innocent of such spiritual crimes.
There are now hundreds of ex members of clergy that have joined The Clergy Project, to find employment elsewhere.

As former clergy who have left churches of every denomination, synagogues, mosques, convents, monasteries, and theological institutions, we stand as examples of the reasonableness of doubt and its thoughtful conclusions. I cannot help but think that we offer a compelling voice for why science and secularism do a better job than religion and superstition of answering the so-called ultimate questions.
He owned slaves until he died. He even gave them away in his will. There’s no way he is a man of God. He never got over the sin of enslaving people.

This was informative. Thanks for posting this documentry.
Edwards seem like a good elder brother in Christ to me, even though I'm not even American and don't know much about him.
Thank you.
