  1. These are exactly what the scriptures teach. The walk with Christ is a path of suffering and being “ conformed to His image” ( Romans 8:28-30) I bought and read Jonthan Edwards sermon ,” Sinners in the Hands of an angry God. It was good and Biblical, but I was unmoved by it. I had read his biography as well of hundred others, and I knew how the congregation responded. Many were weeping, falling to their knees in repentance, grieving and groaning broke out throughout the church. I realized why I was unmoved. The Word spoken to the Church is the sword of the Spirit. He drove those words into the hearts and He brought repentance and the fear of God upon them. God’s Word read without prayer and no asking God for understanding and conviction, brings nothing to the reader except knowledge which puffs up the ego. Read without prayer and prayer and humility the Holy Spirit will bring g conviction, repentance, and cut away more of us in order to confirm us to the image we lost in the garden when sin entered mankind. He is the potter we are the clay. Without this conforming power, we remain narcissistic idolatrous lovers of self.

  2. I surrender all to You Lord Jesus, You are Wise and Omniscient, please continue to be my strength in my discomfort and disbelief, Amen. May God enlarge this channel to continue to be a blessing to many souls, this I humbly pray, Amen!

  3. Lord Jesus help me walk this path according to Your script and nit mine. Cut what needs to be cut off, break what needs to be broken that at the end the image of Yiur glorious Son may be birthed in this weak earthen vessel O Lord God almighty who's above all things now and forever more 🙏

  4. David prayed for 4 things : a pure heart, steadfast spirit, the joy of his salvation, and a teachable, willing spirit to sustain him. Add to that the prayer for the reality of the Beatitudes: poor in spirit, mourning, meekness, hungering and thirsting after righteousness , being merciful, being a peace maker, a pure heart, and being able to persevere under persecution . These will bring us into the “ being conformed to the image of God’s Son which He says He will do to us in Romans 8:28-30. We lost the image of our a maker when sin entered with the eating of the forbidden fruit. In Christ, God recreates us, but it is a painful process.
This lesson from the writings of Jonathan Edwards , reminds me of these verses. We only become conformed through suffering. There is no other way. Our self love is so very strong. We are not aware of just how strong it is. As Joni Eareckson Tada says,” God allows what He hates to accomplish what He loves”. He hates us to suffer, but knows it must be done to prepare us for judgment and eternal glory with Him. I am 78, and still see Him teaching me to let go of my control for surrender to His control. To stop living in “ what if” instead of “ even if” Even if the worst happens, may we be faithful unto death. When we accepted Christ as our Lord, we accepted the conforming of our souls and will to His refining fire. Let us pray for each other to be faithful.
