The society dynamics are changing. There's little one can do to change these things. Women are earning higher and are looking to marry up. Their options are limited. When men earn, they look to marry and have a family. When women earn, they seek men that earn higher, thereby reducing their options.
As much as this is well-intentioned, I still believe that many people involved in relationship mentoring, singles programmes, and even some pastors do not fully understand why so many of our ladies are single or what is truly happening in the dating scene. I am a single man, 49 years old, with no children and no girlfriend—not by choice, but simply because I have not been lucky. Personally, I do not want to marry a single mother or a divorced woman because of some of the circumstances I have seen that led many women into those situations. From my experience in the dating market, many women have become extremely selective. In some cases, they seem more attracted to married men, men with multiple baby mothers, or divorced men, while showing little interest in single men with no children who have never been married. I have attended plenty of Nigerian churches in the UK and have been introduced to and matched with women through pastors and other church members. However, many of these women have very specific expectations and preferences that are extremely difficult to find among the pool of single and available men. I have also attended several singles and mingle events where there were, for example, 32 women and only seven men. Yet, despite the imbalance, none of the 32 women found any of the seven men attractive enough to pursue. So, what exactly are pastors and mentors supposed to do in situations like that? Even approaching single women today can be a major issue—whether in church, on the street, at the supermarket, or elsewhere. But I feel that many pastors and relationship mentors are not addressing what I believe are some of the core issues. In my opinion, the way many single women approach dating and the expectations they have can be unrealistic and problematic. I could go on and on. PK may eventually discover that nothing much will change. He may build a successful platform and make money from it, but many of the same women may still remain single because the underlying issues are not being addressed. Of course, there are also some foolish and manipulative men who understand exactly how some women think and use that knowledge to take advantage of them repeatedly. That is why I struggle to understand why some women are attracted to married men, men with multiple baby mothers, or divorced men when there are plenty of single, childless, never-married men actively pursuing them. There are many more examples and experiences that I believe relationship mentors and pastors simply do not fully understand. Until those deeper issues are properly acknowledged and addressed, I honestly do not see much changing.
I enjoy listening to PK ( and PM). His (their) messages were a blessing. I believe his messages helped a lot. But I recently i stopped following him, and it pains me to do so.
I will recommend every successful minister read and imbibe lessons from Robert Liardon’s God’s Generals.
