  3. 37:59…"Bring every thought into captivity to thy holy love."

Preachers today, at least the possibly dozens I have talked with, are not very well focused on the sinners like maybe the Booths', founders of The Salvation Army, made the focus of their mission.

    Spurgeon preached 'to the choir'.
The Salvation Army has possibly been more in God's graces since its' inception judging by the statistics.

This takes me back and the reality of my life was mostly focused on sin early and the following verse was brought to my attention by ordinary people with likely better grasp of the intent of Jesus' message than most preachers.

2 Corinthians 10:5. "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ"

So now after some 4 or 5 years of 'considering' and 'praying' and 'thinking' and 'reading the Bible', it is still necessary to work out what the perspective from a sinful life is and how it is to be useful.

  4. Revelation 1:3"Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand"

The phrase "which are written" occurs at the following 7 verses of the NT of the KJV

Luke 21:22 "For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled."

Acts 24:14 "But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:"

Galatians 3:10 "For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them."

Hebrews 12:23 "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,"

Revelation 1:3 "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand"

Revelation 21:27 "And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life."

Revelation 22:19 "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book"

  5. 3:054:01..At Jude 1:20 "But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,"
21 "and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love"

Spurgeon then reminds us of Moses prayer for Benjamin
Deuteronomy 33:12¶ "And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the LORD shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders"

Paul was of Benjamin and maybe his faith was enhanced by recalling Jacobs' 'blessing' at
    Genesis 49:27
"Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; in the morning he devours the prey, in the evening he divides the plunder."

Benjamin was the military might of Israel and Paul, before conversion, acted accordingly.
Possibly he was taught to do so by Gamaliel. Some enactments portray this as possible.
