3:49…."….born into a garden of poppies." Spurgeon's terminology is amazing.
Today, the West is plagued with drug addiction. The following at Wikipedia.
The Second Opium War (simplified Chinese: 第二次鸦片战争; traditional Chinese: 第二次鴉片戰爭), also known as the Second Anglo-Chinese War or Arrow War,[3] was fought between the United Kingdom, France, Russia, and the United States against the Qing dynasty of China between 1856 and 1860. It was the second major conflict in the Opium Wars, which were fought over the right to import opium to China, and resulted in a second defeat for the Qing and the forced legalisation of the opium trade. It caused many Chinese officials to believe that conflicts with the Western powers were no longer traditional wars, but part of a looming national crisis.[4
I love your sermons, my favorite sermon was that one about David hiding out in the hills and caves and he looks down at his enemies pursuing him , would you remember the name of that one , I can't find it . I play these to my brother once a week, he's in a nursing home , You do Incredible work, an amazing narration, so easy to listen to . Thank you Gavin Childress .

14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; 16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

5:26–5:32…"As God is not in all his thoughts, so God does not appear to him in all his ways."
Does God require repentance at the national level?
13:19…."Sickness has come 'only' to yield discipline."
Does 'sickness' occur to nations?
18:46–18:53…"The Lord makes even evils work for the highest good…."
King James Bible
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things
Amen ✝️❤️🕊️
