What is the inspiration and meaning behind the Christmas Carol and hymn written by Charles Wesley, Hark, the Herald?

  1. Yes, Good Tidings, Great Joy… because God sent His Son to redeem EVERYONE that will & CAN call upon Jesus from the sting of death caused by sin…& not just a pre-chosen elect few.

    Thanks for putting out the true gospel Brian

  2. The liberal/left has been whining about the UMC stance on homo topics for 45 years. They were smothered and stifled for years by the old guard which had so many great pastors. But it was obvious that attrition slowly would erode the wall of resistance, it was just a matter of time.

    One thing people don't know about the "Methodist" church is every individual church has its own "flavor". That "flavor" is dependent on the pastor(s) and that "flavor" started to swing across the spectrum more and more as the 80s went into the 90s. Some pastors I could not wait until they left, and others I was saddened to see them go. The UMC has a rotation system which keeps moving pastors around which has pros and cons.

    This isn't first time the "Methodist" church has split in a major way. Circa the Civil War the church was split over slavery and divided into North and South. That's where your Southern Methodist name got started, i.e. Southern Methodist University, etc. Years later they reconciled and became the United Methodist Church, the UMC which is united no more and hasn't been for some years. But those faithful to the Wesley origins were already planning and organizing for the split from the apostate section.

    Satan and his minions succeeded in wrecking one more established church, but another is rising to take its place. God always wins.!!!

  3. Here are the verses you didn’t show:
    Christ, by highest heav’n adored,
    Christ, the everlasting Lord:
    Late in time behold Him come,
    Offspring of a virgin’s womb.
    Veiled in flesh the Godhead see,
    Hail th’ incarnate Deity!
    Pleased as man with man to dwell,
    Jesus our Immanuel.
    3
    Hail the heav’n-born Prince of Peace!
    Hail the Sun of righteousness!
    Light and life to all He brings,
    Ris’n with healing in His wings:
    Mild He lays His glory by,
    Born that man no more may die;
    Born to raise the sons of earth;
    Born to give them second birth.
