We cannot know what Spurgeon had on his mind or in his heart when he delivered this teaching but possibly patience, -a fruit of the Spirit as here in Galatians 5:22 "But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!"-was not being well exercised at that time as the Psalmist records at
    Psalms 19:12. "Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults"
