It is not the condition of a faithless person. It is often the condition of a very faithful person who is going through a trial that is too large and too long and too unanswered to fit neatly into simple faith. When you have doubted, you have not been unfaithful. You have been human. And you have been faithful in the way that counts most, by staying. By continuing to bring yourself to me even when you were not sure what you believed. By choosing the relationship even when the relationship was confusing. By keeping the door between us open even when you wanted to close it. That is faith. The staying type. And it is the type I treasure most.
