Mrs. Biodun Stephen, I sincerely appreciate you for the kind of stories you keep telling. They are always relatable, deeply human, and they stay with you long after the credits roll. Your consistency in telling stories that make people reflect is truly contagious.
"This Is Us Now" reminded me that trauma does not only happen to the person who is attacked. Sometimes the people standing beside them are bleeding too, just in different ways. Addie's mistake was not that he could not stop what happened. His mistake was allowing his guilt to become a wall between him and the woman who needed him most.
One lesson that stood out to me is that protecting your wife is bigger than being able to fight off danger. Life can throw situations beyond anyone's control but real protection is found in your presence, your words, your affection, your willingness to sit in the pain together, and your decision not to make her carry the burden alone.
Sadly, in some homes today, some men are not even doing that bare minimum. A wife can survive the crisis itself, but the loneliness that follows when her husband becomes emotionally absent can break her all over again.
I also loved that the movie challenged the idea that men must always have all the answers or never seek help. Sometimes strength is admitting you are struggling and choosing healing before your silence destroys the people you love.
This was not just a movie about marriage for me. It was a lesson in empathy, communication, and choosing each other again after life changes everything. Beautiful work ma'am ๐๐๐๐๐
August 5, 2026: Ms. Stephenโฆtake a bow & your flowers, AGAIN! 'Toxic Masculinity' is a real thing. It's SO good to see Taye and Debby on screen, again! Debby has the most gorgeous eyebrows. James's voice is eloquent.
I experienced this in Abuja 2005. They beat me blue black! They tried it but God intervened! I never slept in that house again! I still lock the doors multiple times each night and day! I can be in bed and wake up to come downstairs to check the doors again! I canโt sleep with my door closed cos I need to see my kids bedroom from my room. I dare not take a shower if am home alone , I will be hearing every door in my head! That night messed me up! Itโs been 21 yrs and I am still traumatized! God will punish all these people that go into peoples homes and violate their spaces like this!
