  1. Angel studios is run and owned by Mormons in Provo Utah. It was good but watered down. It did have at the end words on the screen, I Am the way, the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father but by Me. John 14:6

  2. Unfair critique. It’s not the movies job to teach our children. It’s the parents job to teach past the movie. The movie brings about awareness and good discussion. Better than a child watching SpongeBob. Put it into perspective.

  3. The scriptures say not to muzzle the ox, and that is what you are doing with this attacking video.

I enjoyed taking my children to the movie, because there is rarely anything else on the big screen each year that I would ever let them watch. Afterwards, I asked them to identify the places where it was scripturally incorrect, and we had fun.

Movies are for entertainment, and the scriptures say the parent should teach a child in the way they will go so they will not depart from it. My children are taught to watch and listen to things that they are exposed to in this world, but to identify what is true and what is not, so they are not deceived.

The movie was great despite a few things I disagreed with, but take your kids to a basically non-indoctrination movie, unless you reject Jesus. There are few opportunities at the movies these days.

  4. I took 3 of my grandsons, 5,7,and 9. I narrated all the way though, probably upset a lot of people, but seed was sown and I will use some of this to bring to mind as they ask questions, Gods Word will not come back void.

  5. I will be a bit of a curmudgeon too! But first, in defense of portraying Jesus as a cartoon figure, they did not have him acting goofy. He was serious and intentional throughout the film. Here are a few things that didn’t sit well with me—they subtly implied that all of the stories told to the audience were from Charles Dickens’ manuscript—not the Bible. The film opened with the little boy being rambunctious, loud, disrespectful, and ornery. The father was trying to get control of the kid, and the mother was implying he needed to control his temper and be more understanding. I thought it sent a terrible message and certainly did not line up with the commandment to honor your parents. They portrayed all the Jewish men with gigantic bulbous noses, except Jesus had a nicely proportioned nose even though He is Jewish. I thought that caricature was offensive. The temple scene is where Jesus is morphed into Charles Dickens while holding the boy’s cat—so wrong! There was nothing to let the audience know this was even supposed to be a sacred house of worship until Jesus began yelling and wielding his whip. Unless you are already very familiar with the Bible stories I think much of that message would be lost on people. I agree they handled violent scenes very tastefully, like when the soldier’s ear was lopped off by Peter, and Jesus’ whipping and crucifixion. They got the message across without being graphic. I went to see it with two friends that thought it was very good. I appreciate the attempt on the part of Angel Studios, but think they could have done so much better. I connote Dallas Jenkins with Angel Studios, and wonder to what extent he was involved with the project, because The Chosen series is done so much better.

  6. Heard the review and then watched the movie. I don’t know if this guy fell asleep or what, but the gospel was shared indeed. It said multiple times and used scripture to say what sin is and how it separates us from God. It shared that Jesus had to die for our sin as a perfect sacrifice. It stated multiple times that he is the Son of God and he is the way, the truth, and the life. Most lines of the Bible characters were from Scripture. Is this kids movie as deep as an apologetic conference, no, but the Gospel was there for sure.

  7. As a kids movie if they can just get a glimps of jesus thats also great they will learn as they grow. Plant the seed they will grow. Make the movie boring for kids many wont learn from it. Kids learn differently

  8. Hmmm, how to start. I listen to you all the time, I herd your concerns. My wife and I just finished watching the movie, in fact I’m in the bar now after the movie. I know I’m a heathen. Lol
I agree 100% when Yeshua speaks and it’s in the Bible it should be his word. I am disappointed with that. But during the movie my wife was not sure, and myself is that what was said or is that what really happened. Now we will open our Bible’s a discover the truth. What a wonderful thing. And as for the parent at the movie who failed at there job. It’s there job to teach there kids. Shame on them, this could be a great learning experience.

  9. The movie did fit well for a kid. This is not a "doctrinal/theological" movie. The movie was made for kids. Todd, do you think ALL children will understand truly what sin is? Why not start with the basics, JESUS loves us and we ought to love JESUS!

  10. This is the only real review on this movie. every other review is dumping praise all over this thing. im so happy you are giving a real truthful review on this false christian movie on the lord Jesus Christ

  11. If a movie doesn’t share the gospel it’s not biblical, period. Either God is glorified or He is not. The gospel is knowing Jesus without the gospel being preached there is no genuine knowing of Jesus.

  12. If this doesn’t show the problems with evangelicals. They get rid of all depth and tradition about the life of Christ and then every movie that comes out they freak out about the tiniest little mistake

  13. My family went and saw it, and my wife and I both immediately said the same thing, "where's the Gospel?" We also both noted (and perhaps it's mentioned in this video, I haven't finished it yet) that there was an odd lack of acknowledgment of Jesus' divinity. Many times it actually quoted scripture well and stated that He was the son of God but it obviously danced around the fact that He is God.

  14. This is a children’s movie. Children can’t understand deep concepts like propitiation. Also hypocritical as the wretched host doesn’t believe in the gospel. He believes in the doctrines of grace.

  15. I did not go back and read all of the comments, so I want to ask: Isn't this movie produced by Mormons, who offer a different gospel, a different Jesus, and another spirit? Should we be endorsing them by giving them financial support?

  16. The movie isnt about the plan of salvation itself. Its a recounting of the life of Jesus to children and to set him as the True King in their hearts. It does a great job of that. The exact soteriology you want to follow it with is up to you.

  17. I took my children to see this movie. They both go to Catholic school. They already knew all of the lines/quotes and stories contained in this movie. They both enjoyed it. The purpose of shows and movies like this is to pique your interest in Christ so that you will go to the Bible, to the gospels, and to prayer. These movies and shows are not a substitute or replacement for such things, and perhaps the reviewers are forgetting that. This movie will hold my kids over nicely until they are old enough to watch Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ.” This movie was fine for what it is.

  18. Honestly, from all the observations, some of which I find quite valid , the last one, about Jesús being a “cartoon" is completelly idiotic. HE becomes a cartoon when you dumb it down, when you sugar coat it to not to be what He is. But this is a 3D animation, just an artistic style. Now you are being “holier than thou"
