Review!! This is a very interesting movie, truly engaging from start to finish. Honestly, if the role of the pastor had been played differently, I would have rated it a solid 10/10. I must commend Michael Dappa, he’s an incredible actor. He completely owned the role of the pastor and delivered it with so much skill. He’s without doubt an A class, all round actor. However, I personally struggle with the idea of a pastor having dreadlocks. In my view, a pastor should present a more conservative and decent appearance. I do understand the message the filmmakers were trying to communicate, but dreadlocks on a pastor just didn’t sit right with me.
That said, the rest of the cast did an amazing job. Nadia Buari was fantastic, as always, and Omoni Oboli once again delivered a hit movie. Everyone played their roles excellently.
I also recall there’s a Nollywood actor whose father was a pastor, and after his father passed, he took over the ministry while keeping his dreadlocks. Perhaps that real life reference inspired this portrayal. Even so, for me, it still doesn’t work. A pastor having dreadlocks is something I just can’t accept.
For this reason, I’ll rate the movie 6/10. Without the dreadlocks, it would easily have been a 10/10. That’s my honest review.
