I'm ordering a collection of his original sermons to compare.
The person(s) who produces this and the Spurgeon channels do good work but I want to know how true to Edwards original sermons. Clearly they are updated but in the interest of transparency, I'd like to know how true to his original sermons they are.
BTW, this content seems very well produced and correctly clarifies the absolute and perfect Holiness of God and the need for our absolute surrender to Him.
Edwards is always conflating salvation and discipleship…Salvation is a GIFT, free for anyone without it having to become a GUT-WRENCHING, CRUCIBLE where we have to ultimately ''live up to it'' and PROVE OURSELVES WORTHY of it'!! Actually we DON'T have to live up to it because it's ETERNAL from the VERY MOMENT of inception and, by definition, eternal life CAN NEVER END. So whether we 'manage' to live up to it…or not (and NO ONE can…) eternal means eternal! I know there are scripture-twisting WEASELS that try to IGNORE that, and 'somehow' claim that salvation can be lost…but, actually, there is NOWHERE in the Bible where it says, SPECIFICALLY, that ANYONE lost their salvation! There are verses that 'suggest or infer' it but NEVER comes RIGHT OUT and says it…to wrest that conclusion, it must be INTERPRETED to mean that. Whereas, Jesus, Who IS God, and cannot lie, NOR allow His WORD to come back to Him VOID, speaks these words in John 10:28 – that He gives us eternal life, saying all from His OWN LIPS, that we shall NEVER PERISH! Clear, unambiguous words from The Saviour Himself that DO NOT NEED to be interpreted! So why, OH WHY can't people just accept that??? So, now that I've established THAT, Edward's calvinistic, Lordship Salvation claims fall flat on their face! Otherwise, why does Romans 4:5 say "But to him that worketh not, but believeth onhim that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness? I know…most will just push all that I've proven, by CLEAR scripture, aside and believe what they've read in Hebrews about 'crucifying the Son of God afresh' and 'putting Jesus to an open shame'… Yet – What did Jesus, HIMSELF say???
Is he talking about Jesus?…God is love. God is light. "Fear not little flock, it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom". God manifest in the flesh came to us because we couldn't get to Him. "Philip, if you have seen me you've seen the Father." Jesus is the ifulgence of God's glory, the exact representation of His being. " For God so loved the world that He gave His beloved Son that whoever….whoever….whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Did Johnny Edwards ever read his Bible? How could an evangelist miss these glorious truths? Because he was a calvinist. " I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked"…"God would have all to be saved…"
The Holy Spirit lives in every believer confesses Jesus Christ as Lord. Is not hovering in the sky waiting to be called down to a service. Jesus said I must go to be with the father and because I go I will leave you a comforter, the Holy Spirit.
Then why is the Holy Spirit called the “Comforter”
