Reputation goes a long way if you met Johnathan Edwards and didn't know who he was you would want anything to do with him and no one today would want to live in John Calvin's Geneva
My favourite was James White mentioning how Jonathon Edward’s died during his talk at the G3 conference just to rub it in on all the coward pastors who promoted the vaccine
sounds like COVID vaccine!!!!!! It was wrong how many pastors and leaders pushed this as a "spiritual" choice. Thanks for another example that illustrates the dangers of theologians and pastors getting into government propaganda.
Quoting from Wikipedia: 1. Edwards left behind eleven children (three sons and eight daughters). 2. Many of Jonathan and Sarah Edwards's descendants became prominent citizens in the United States, including Burr and college presidents Timothy Dwight, Jonathan Edwards Jr. and Merrill Edwards Gates. Jonathan and Sarah Edwards were also ancestors of Edith Roosevelt, the writer O. Henry, the publisher Frank Nelson Doubleday, and the writer Robert Lowell. 3. His descendants have had a disproportionate effect upon American culture: his biographer George Marsden notes that "the Edwards family produced scores of clergymen, thirteen presidents of higher learning, sixty-five professors, and many other persons of notable achievements."
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Thank you for this. I wondered if you could comment on Edwards' last words when he said that, since he trusts his union with his wife was spiritual, it would continue forever?
Reformed Bible Church, what a laugh. Edwards was an Arminian, a heretic. The Reformers and Puritans majored on death, even took their children to view graves to show them where we all shall end up.
Edwards was antinomian, spoke away from the law, had no time for the law, as seen in his work Sinners in the hands of an angry God.
There remained no theological doctrine with Edwards, only theatre.
Died in his fifties however he managed to raise a family And preach Its not how long one lives But what one puts into it! Augustus toplady died aged 38!
Is there a link to. your sermon on Sarah Edwards? We are studying her life with our homeschool children here at the Aloha House of Hope and would love to be able to listen to it. Thank you.
The famous Calvinist Jonathan Edwards (who John Piper hugely admires) wrote:
"It is most just, exceeding just, that God should take the soul of a new-born infant and cast it into eternal torments." Jonathan Edwards
Calvinism teaches that God chooses who is elect and who is UNelect/reprobate *BEFORE* people are born and *BEFORE* they have “done anything good or bad, so that God’s purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls,” Romans 9:11
So if you are a consistent Calvinist you will believe that most babies and children who die go to eternal torture in Hell, because it was already decided before they were born – so the age at which they die is irrelevant.
John Calvin wrote:
"By predestination we mean the eternal decree of God, by which he determined with himself whatever he wished to happen with regard to every man. All are not created on equal terms, but some are preordained to eternal life, others to eternal damnation; and, accordingly as each has been created for one or other of those ends we say that he has been predestined to life or death.” John Calvin, The Institutes of the Christian Religion
Famous Calvinist A. W. Pink wrote: “God loves the elect and hates the reprobate.” Calvinism teaches that God hates most people.
Dr. James White, another famous Calvinist, also believes in infant damnation.
But C S Lewis and John Wesley who were NOT Calvinists wrote about Calvinism:
“The doctrine of Total Depravity… may thus turn Christianity into a form of devil-worship." – C.S. Lewis – The Problem Of Pain, pp. 28-29
"You represent God as worse than the devil; more false, more cruel, more unjust. But you say you will prove it by scripture. Hold! What will you prove by Scripture? That God is worse than the devil?" John Wesley
Notice: under Calvinism and the Calvinists’ wrong interpretation of Romans 9 most people are determined by God to go to Hell BEFORE they have done anything good or bad – so they are NOT going to Hell because of sin or because of how they respond to the Gospel. They are just going to hell because the Calvinist God made them expressly to go to Hell.
Very interesting- thank you

I lost 3 friends in 2022 due to the covid jabs. All perfectly healthy and young and they died suddenly in their sleep 🙁
Vaccines are nothing less than Medical Hubris…Every Christian should be Anti VAXXERS…

He got a vax?
Great delivery on interesting and helpful information.

Augustus toplady died aged
38!
Thank you for just one more piece of evidence to be completely anti-VAX.
Seems more likely quinsy throat. JE would have died on that day for some reason since God numbers our days.
Is that a typo on the final slide? If Burr died in Sept 1757, how could Edwards replace him in Feb of that year?
Second cousin, 8 times removed. I love to listen and learn. My family.
Thanks buddy,Coolbeans y’all,
PRECIOUS in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. PRECIOUS, not tragic.
He failed at keeping one of the two New Commandments Jesus gave us, to love others as you love yourself because he owned Slaves which he never freed.
Trusting in God doesn't seem to help at all with infectious diseases.
Even back then vaccinations were baloney…

While I understand the reasoning behind his letter, shouldn’t Edwards have been consoling his son with the good news of Christ and the gospel?
Fascinating and inspiring. Thanks.

Wonderful. Tragic summary. Thank you.
