If you are a Christian brother or sister who keeps visiting your future husband's or wife's home alone, please take this seriously. You cannot claim that you want to honour God and protect the sanctity of marriage while deliberately putting yourself in situations that make it easier to compromise your convictions.
You cannot afford to be so comfortable that you politely say, “Please, I think it is best if you leave, so we don't defile the marriage bed,” while you are alone with that person in your house. When temptation is staring you in the face, will you have the courage to stand firm?
Set your boundaries BEFORE temptation comes knocking!
If you know being alone together puts your faith at risk, stop creating those opportunities. Meet in public places, spend time with other people around, and establish boundaries that honour God.
And if someone refuses to respect your boundaries and leave your home when you ask them to, prioritise your safety. Leave the situation if you can do so safely, and seek help if necessary.
Let's stop playing games with our convictions. Let's stop being careless with our purity. The marriage bed is to be honoured, and that honour begins before the wedding day.
