My wife has separated from me and refuses to let me see our three year-old boy (almost four). I'm not living in any sin. She is attempting to fix our marriage problems the world's way instead of by the word of God.

It does seem that the Corinthians were a recalcitrant group and possibly many today are of like mind as the Corinthians.
In watching The Chosen it seems that they are making an attempt to reform the thinking of people who claim to be Christian.
In their Bible Roundtable discussions they call it developing the backstory of the individuals of that day and it does seem to be somewhat effective

Spurgeon mentions a 17th Century theologian two times and the name is Frances Quarles The Voice to Text name comes up as Qualls which is not correct spelling
Spurgeon's first reference was something about a thousand Nooks being investigated and this reminds me of Maxwell and his intent on investigating all fallow ground
Spurgeon with almost certainly have known of Faraday but apparently he missed Maxwell who seems to have had a very good grasp of Christianity but unfortunately he died even younger than Spurgeon by 10 years in 1879. It's too bad that his legacy of Bible understanding did not get more attention as even today John Lennox would do well to look into his understanding of the Bible
If Spurgeon were alive today he'd probably be reading the newspapers and he might agree with what Albert Barnes here had published somewhere around the year 1830 in a commentary on the 4th verse of Psalm 83
"the world has often endeavored to destroy the church; to cause it to be extinct; to blot out its name; to make the very names Christ and Christian forgotten among mankind. Hence, the fiery persecutions under the Roman government in the time of the Emperors; and hence, in every age, and in every land, the church has been exposed to persecution – originated with a purpose to destroy it as long as there was any hope of accomplishing that end. That purpose has been abandoned by Satan and his friends only because the result has shown that the persecution of the church served but to spread its principles and doctrines, and to fix it more firmly in the affections and confidence of mankind, so that the tendency of persecution is rather to overthrow the persecutor than the persecuted.
