Before America had a revolution, it had a revival—and at the center of it was a “rock star” preacher named George Whitefield.

  1. Sadly Greg Laurie doesn't reflect anything of George Whitfield with the unbiblical come to the altar and make a decision error introduced by Charles G. Finney the great deceiver who denied the biblical gospel of one's need for the imputed righteousness of Christ….

  2. My dear wife and I watched this movie one day before the grand opening. The cinematography, the dialogue, the actors, the screenplay was first rate. This movie is for every person who loves American History and/or Evangelical truth. 73 de WA4CIF

  3. 11:59 SPOILER ALERT!!! This gives away too much from the film. So very powerful but would have preferred to seen it live at the theater then to have it spoil it for me during this interview. Can’t wait to see the film today, but won’t watch more of this interview and risk seeing more spoilers. Thanks for sharing but next time don’t give so much away. Love you.

  4. George Whitefield is actually my 6th cousin! I have been studying 📖 my genealogy for years now. Why I was seeing the movie 🎬 I thought I should check and see if we we're related! And finding out we were related wasn't a huge surprise because I have British ancestors. But I'm grateful 🙏🏻 that so many of my ancestors love ❤️ th we Lord!

  5. There are flaws, and then there are FLAWS. George Whitefield, thru his celebrity, got the Georgia colony to turn from slavery being illegal to being legal. I wished the movie addressed this, even if it was a written footnote at the end. He is controversial today for a reason. If he had been an abolitionist like Wesley, then maybe the plantation economy wouldnt have formed in the South & no civil war to follow. So much suffering could have been avoided. He died with alot of accumulated cash & property, to include 49 slaves. Only God can judge. But I think people need to learn the whole truth. A candle can illuminate thousands, but it can also destroy just as many.

  6. I did cried several times because this movie is an eye opening to all christians, Jesus followers to reach for others, specially the marginated and rejected by the society, like George did. Let the Holy Spirit guide us to share our faith and love that Jesus showed us!🙏💯❤️

  7. I’ve seen A Great Awakening 3 times in the theater with different family and friends – just like I did with Jesus Revolution and I Heard the Bells!
Thank you for this thorough and honest interview with the producer/director and actor. The selected clips from the film are some of the many scenes that made Awakening the remarkable and inspiring story of Whitefield and Franklin ring true.

  8. Just saw it today, and I'm still moved in the Spirit about this Powerful film!!! Cried and wrecked!! My friend and I went to lunch afterwards, and we recommended it to the lady who took our order, and couldn't stop talking about it, bc our spirits were on fire 🔥!

All I could think about was our Lord needs to do this again. I prayed, Father send Your" voices" in this day! And let me be one of them!
God bless you Jonathan for your expertise in your acting in your enactment of George Whitefield! It was beauty in action 👏🏻💞. Thank you so very much!

  9. I saw it this week and it was amazing! I cried at the end and watched all the credits of all the many talented people that worked on the film. Jonathan did a fantastic job portraying George Whitefield! What a powerful voice! The beautiful choir at the end of the film was so heavenly!

  10. We were so touched by this movie! We saw David last month in Branson at the sight and sound theater and were so excited that they offered this film knowing the great quality we experienced there! This was a great interview to see Joshua and Jonathan. So much talent used for the glory of God!
