A sermon delivered by C. H. Spurgeon, Lord’s day morning, July 1st 1855. Some of us see great faith as a special blessing which …

  1. Oh Father, please increase the faith of all your children so that we may more fully reflect You and thereby bring honor and glory to Christ! Increase our faith that we may boldly stand. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen🙏🏻

  2. Recalling my experience with Herbert W. Armstrong's organization, they likely didn't teach Bible truths.

In 1972 an Armstrong preacher invited some, including me, after being baptized to his house and gave us a sample tasting of his father's 'white lightning'.

Today the Armstrong people have spawned many groups which disseminate similar 'Judaizing' and 'prophetic ' type of information. Some claiming they disseminate 'corrected' information which somehow is now 'accurate'.

Not certain, but I don't recall the Armstrong people ever teaching like Spurgeon teaches.

According to Wikipedia Armstrong's teaching was rooted in 'British Israelism'.

  3. Lord, grant that Your sheep will not stray into error. Increase our faith according to truth—Your word, and may You receive all the glory which is due Your great name.
"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate,
equipped for every good work" [2 Timothy 3v16-17]

  4. Hebrews 12:1-2….1"……let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us."
2 "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,"

Book for Hebrews BUT directives work for any who are obedient.

Likely worth further study of the word here translated "perfecter". Likely has some relevance to the question posed in Luke's Gospel.

  5. God, I and we worship you at this moment. We thank You, O Most High God, for this technology, these free sermons! How blessed we are in having access to them. If I had gotten a case full of these sermons as a birthday gift, I would be most happy. Yet, we have them here, for free, hundreds of them, to be accessed at any time! I praise You Lord for the work you did and are doing through CH Surgeon and through the narrator! We praise Your Holy Name, O God our God, Who art One!!! In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

  6. Excellent preaching. Relevant for any time, any decade. Spurgeon likes to reference John Bunyan's book, Pilgrim's Progress, in some of his sermons. Characters like Little-Faith, Christian, Giant-Despair, etc. (Small mishap with Transcript:23:34 – it should read – 'Poor Little-Faith could not have thwarted Apollyon.' Interesting fact, see time slot 24:08, which refers to Job 40:23KJV…'Behold, he (behemoth) drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: He trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.' All glory to God forever.

  7. I asked God for a lesson, to correct me in my flaws and understand what He wants of me.
    He sent this.
That little faith that God does answer prayer.
That little faith that God is working on you and that he shall finish his work.
That little faith that God shall not let you be plucked from his hand.
That little faith that God chastises his children, and you, being chastised, are his child.

Glory to God that he has given me a little faith in him, that he may grow it ten fold and a hundred fold and a thousand fold. Glory to God that I may see it. Glory to God that I may share it.

Praise be to Jesus, through him all this flows.
