Christian music suffers from the same lack of creativity that mainstream music has because the Christian media companies choose to publish bands with mass appeal
Part of the simplicity of most modern christian music is because the entire congregation should be able to sing it quickly. Most complicated songs won't get played. No play, no pay.
You obviously did no research on the UPCI at all. There is music in our churches. Everything from near orchestras to a simple piano and guitar to almost everything between. This has been true for both UPCI and doctrinally similar churches.
One time when I was in like junior high we went to this weird play that was put on by the local mega church. The play itself was weird enough but then we had to go into this room after on our way out and people were speaking in tongues and on the floor. I just remember being so freaked out lol
The segment about Christian music reminds me of that South park ep where Cartman makes a Christian band by just writing generic love songs but just putting Jesus or God in randomly and they become a huge hit.
So being really really hungry cuz they've been fasting for 3 days, they suddenly started speaking in tongues⦠Gee, I wonder if there might be some correlation there.
I didn't grow up in a tradition that believed in Speaking in Tongues. They interpreted that passage in Acts as everyone speaking a language that existed in real life that allowed them to pass normal speech barriers. But I've heard plenty of ppl that grew up in traditions that do believe in Speaking in Tongues tell me that it's a skill you learn how to do through repetition and there's really nothing all that "spiritual" about it β a "fake it til you make it" kind of thing.
