  1. "Lead with curiousity, ask them what really excites you about the digital world. Show me, cuz I have no idea what a FOR YOU page is," says the 20-someting year old who has no idea what it's like to be a mother. I say, don't give them access to social media until they're out of high school. That's the way to keep your kids safe. Yeah. they'll see it at their friend's but you can tell the kid's parents to keep that in mind, too. We're way too lenient and liberal. That's the biggest issue.

  2. Just stay off the phone. You are the person using the phone, the phone is not going to use you. If you're looking for peer recognition then it's better if it's done through the school. You're not addicted to social media, you're addicted to your phone.

You ever heard your parents/teacher yell at you "Pay attention!"? Focus on what's in front of you and not your phone. The feeds are programmed, there are people running businesses on social media, and it's also used for marketing. You're all kids and you're mistakening it with your own identities. If you have role models and people you want to look up to that's great but it doesn't make much sense to have hurt feelings over things you don't have to even look at. Get off the phone.

  3. This is good news. It's a parents responsibility to foster healthy communication with their children. Be present and positive, and they will want to do the same. Great work, Larissa.

  4. during when I was middle school I wasn't allow to have social media, I have to wait when I was a freshman in high school, now I'm almost 19 and still alive and good but yeah there some days I feel alone and people on social media like on instagram and TikTok, yeah they are so mean and they can bring me down but you know I just block them and not care about it and suicide doesn't really affect me well sometimes. it true social media does affect other people and it can cause depression and suicide thoughts.

  5. 7:15 if i had a kid they be getting a flip phone .. or if they get bullied at I would get the phone they want but they would have a limited time on it and be used as a prise for their achievements example they get an A on a test I would give them 1 extra hour or something like that. (Would try their trust by asking what they did and if I search to the history and see something else would try to make it seem like I don’t know anything but will know if they aren’t sincere , and in an opportune time I would speak with them about it and why they hide it from me ) And be used In controlled environment. (And would get it only if they earned it , because that is how it works for not raising ungrateful children ) And would try to educate them about the why on my decision , instead of imposing rules that are unclear. I would try my best to get my kid share their thoughts sincerely even if they may seem weird or taboo and try not to make them feel judged and establish let’s say a friendship , since they would do whatever they want anyway , I just want them to share instead of doing mistakes anyway but sneak them out from me. Would prefer them to ask me for advices.

  6. it's so weird to think i remember a time before internet was normal and smartphones not even existing, but yet, here i am today, couldn't imagine a life without a smartphone in todays world. i guess that's how it's supposed to be then? people always expect you to be available all day and then use all these apps for your work place. in the end, i do miss the early 2000s, but without a smartphone, i wouldn't be able to video call the ones i love away from home. all i can say is, i am glad i remember a time before smartphones and before internet was a normal thing. memories i will cherish.

  7. It’s not just teens impacted negatively by social media. Teens are probably the most vulnerable but others are also impacted – face-to-face relationships, hobbies, going for walks, participating in sports.
