  1. There is no shortage of quotes one could take and use to teach an entire sermon, not in an attempt to replace God’s Own Word but in addition to it. I feel absolutely blessed to hear such wisdom coming from Brother Spurgeon immediately after a trial that shook him to his very soul. What a wealth, a treasure, a revelation of tested truth on the other side of a fire tested faith and Spurgeon says; “Come, let me tell you what I’ve found in my 6 weeks in the deepest sea.” He found the Creator and His living Word. Amen.

  2. Lord, I can't wait to see You—to humbly bow before You; to thank You for the strength and guidance You've so faithfully provided when I call upon Your name.
"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need" [Heb 4v16]

  3. John Howard (1726–1790) was an 18th-century English philanthropist and the pioneer of modern prison reform in the UK.

    Key Actions and Reforms

    • Exposed Abuses: As High Sheriff of Bedfordshire in 1774, Howard found local jails filthy and corrupt, and discovered inmates held past their sentences just because they could not afford jailer discharge fees.
    • Landmark Report: He traveled thousands of miles across Britain and Europe to inspect gaols, publishing his findings in The State of the Prisons (1777).
    • Parliamentary Acts: His testimony led to the Penitentiary Act 1779 and earlier 1774 legislation that abolished jailer fees and ordered better health and sanitation standards.
    • Core Ideas: He championed salaried staff (replacing fee-extortion), single-celling, hygiene, separation of prisoners by gender and offense, and labor combined with religious instruction for rehabilitation.

    Legacy

    • The Howard League: Named in his honor, the Howard League for Penal Reform is the world's oldest independent prison reform charity, founded in 1866.
