In this session, Dr. Steven J. Lawson introduces us to George Whitefield, a man whose extraordinary evangelistic fervor was …

  1. Excellent talk. Blessed by it! It's hard to argue with the contention that Whitefield is the greatest preacher since the apostles. One who possibly came close was John Sung, the great Chinese preacher of the 1920s to 1940s, who also preached with great fervour & effect.

  2. Great message, as usual from Dr. Lawson. One comment about his earlier You Tube sermon on Whitefield several years ago, with comments disabled. Most likely this has long been corrected, but the word "Gloucester" is most likely easy for the Englishman, but is also easy to pronounce incorrectly by others (including me years ago, when I was corrected). The first syllable is like "claw" and the first "e" is not pronounced: "Glaw-ster."

  3. If someone had the evangelistic zeal of a person like George Whitfield today there would be a conference with people that pick apart everything he says and criticized and books written to criticize him . These same people would tell others that he never preached anything to influence theology.

  4. Why ,? Mr. Whitfield whenever I hear you preach you preach you must be born again Mr. Whitfield ,leaned in intently and said to the questioner “you must be born again ! “

  5. I so greatly admire Lawson's passion and preaching. That said, however, I find somewhat strained or perhaps undermining how he always presses continually Calvinism's predestination. I just don't see predestination the way Calvinists preach it. I say that in light of what Peter wrote: that God predestined us according to His foreknowledge. That said, I greatly admire Rev. Lawson's uncompromising championship for the cross and Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  6. If say hold tightly to Jesus! He will move you and keep you. The Catholic Church went too far speaking of men. Let Jesus out of everywhere or let me say let Him be all in your life. Jesus alone will change everything about you and the world

  7. How many times did I cry listening to this? Too many!

It's my belief that Whitfield was an amazing instrument of God during America's birth. I'll say it, I believe God used our forefathers for their signatures only. These were all men who called upon the name of God but rejected the name of Christ. Like always, here comes God speaking through Whitfield and it just brings in throngs of masses. God's plan will always prevail and I believe in revelation we will see there was a lot going on here spiritually where God had to become involved.

In the movie the gladiator the general says something like. "Rome in its infancy was so fragile even a whisper could knock her over." I believe America in its infancy was so fragile over spiritual warfare, without the intervention of God through the Holy Spirit who dwelt in men, we would of been a more degenerate place during this time. In our infancy we needed the tender care of Jesus. Now that we are grown, we think we know what's best and it's led our country down a road leading to judgement.
