There’s been no shortage of conversation and debate surrounding the new animated film “Turning Red” from Pixar and Disney. The film, a coming-of-age story about a 13-year-old girl named Meilin who starts magically turning into a giant red panda, has one pastor asking, “Is it demonic?” Mike Signorelli, senior pastor of V1 Church in New York City, recently released a video on social media taking parents through his spiritual concerns over the film and the reasons he concluded it’s simply not a kids’ movie. Here’s his warning for Christians.

  1. Brother you are spot on. We have to protect our children. It's interesting that God says we are like filthy rags in His sight. Those filthy rags are to do with a woman's monthly cycle. So you are spot on. Thank you for making a stand. Never stop standing for Jesus and His standards. Keep strong and stand. Pray Ephesians 6 Over you. You are doing the right thing.

  2. Thank you so much for standing up for righteousness! The Body of Christ MUST no consecrated, cleansed, purified and healed from wounds caused by darkness! You are correct – there is so much mixture among Christians! We have to choose holiness!

  3. There are so many Disney and Pixar movies disguised as child entertainment when it is really an introduction to the demonic. So sad. Shout out to Veggietales and Superbook!!👏🏻

  4. I appreciate parents wanting to be cautious, but this just reads as fear. If you want to be equipped in living in the world around you, you should teach your kids to engage with movies using critical thinking skills. This is ABSOLUTELY a great movie for kids to have good conversations through which you can explore how you respond to themes like the ones in this movie.

  5. I discussed all this and more in my book "PG- A guide for the Christian Parent". As parents, we have to monitor the things that our children watch, play and listen to. Good job at getting the information out there.

  6. Hold up. You need to better differentiate ‘divination’ vs revelation via angels and Holy Spirit. I fight crime via messages that come to me. I don’t seek other power than Christ’s true priesthood, and I get communication but that is far different than ‘divination’ through wrong source. Do don’t say all communication with dead is wrong! However, I appreciate the rest of what you’re highlighting

  7. What about Encanto? It’s a terrible movie but I haven’t really seen anyone talking about it! Shocking. This movie did not set well with me either…Thank you for speaking out!

  8. Glad he's sharing for parents. Sadly parents still Celebrate Halloween with kids not to mention how they celebrate st Patrick day, then the pagan rituals. Easter isn't Easter bunnies n bunnies laying colored eggs! Neither is Christmas about some made up figment of Santa Claus n elves, him flying around with a sled with flying reindeer! Smh

  9. I recently watched this movie and I agree there was stuff in that movie that I felt was over the top and not suited for young kids. There's definitely alot of undercurrent stuff for a child's movie

  10. I’m not a Christian. I grew up with no religion explained at all. One side of my family are catholic but I was never in their life. The other side is Christian but my mom and dad never took us to church or explained any of it. I never knew tarot cards were considered a bad thing. I only learned about astral traveling after reading a kids book called “heck” and I realized I had been astral traveling the whole time. So, that being said-I’m a spiritual person I guess… kind of confused about the whole thing. I do believe there’s a higher power. Has to be some reason for everything. Anyhoo, I wouldn’t take my child to any movie like this one sounds. The last Pixar movie we tried to watch was the newest toy story and it scared my son. He was little , but we figured Toy story would be fine. The part when they held woody down and we’re about to tear him apart was enough for my kid. We shut it off. A kid movie shouldn’t be like that. I know most don’t agree but that’s okay.

  11. Pixar and Disney were doing it for sometimes. Their last few releases were all something to do with dead spirits or spiritist themes. Last Pixar movie I had watched, either it is Incredible 2 or the weird picture about the people in a girl’s head.

  12. I believe this also would scare young girls into identity issues, wanting to be boys and not have to experience the “awful” cycle all girls/women have to go through. Just a thought they may be using this for that reason also?

  13. I saw a 10 second promo for this movie and instantly decided not to watch. I can't understand why so many people I have known from church are absolutely in love with Disney. They watch everything and anything that's popular with no discernment. We very rarely watch any "new" movies because there is so much trash in them.
