  1. The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. Psalm 11:5. for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. James 1:20. Christians who watch violent films and sympathize with “superheroes” are partnering with spirits of violence and vengeance. There’s usually sorcery and magic as well. God calls these an abomination. It’s not a popular view because we love our idols.

  2. Dear Sean, Jesus is ALL TRUTH, WHEREVER IT IS FOUND. Mature audiences have discernment regarding the culture’s expressions. Just because the “words are not in the Bible” does not mean that there is no other EXPRESSION OF TRUTH anywhere else. Romans 1:20

  3. Lol you know this man is absolutely right 🤪🤪so the message of Friday the 13th is simply just don’t camp around a lake. Right. Lol. Talk about missing the pointer taking a thought out of context lol.

  4. It may also depend upon what we mean by violence:

    1. An over-the-top, disgustingly gorry horror film
    2. A highly stylized martial arts film where the violence may be bloody and deadly, but is also highly choreographed (almost a dance)
    3. 3-Stooges type of slap-stick/silly violence
    4. Military/warfare violence
    5. Brutal, inner city, drug cartel type violence
    6. Superhero movie violence
    7. Cartoon violence

There may be other categories I failed to list here. Of course there are also many gray areas and overlaps.

The point, I think, is that this topic can be quite nuanced. Not all violence is the same.

  5. Do you Christians ever think it's weird that you'll have to look around youtube (or ask your priest) to figure out if you're allowed, as an ADULT, to do stuff?

This is so weird to me.

Sometimes it's good to think for yourself.

  6. Truly I say this not with a religious or legalistic spirit but rather a boast for Christ ever since I’ve been reborn I not only don’t watch secular television but I have absolutely no desire to watch TV in general. When I do its fairly rare and or it’s with a loved one or it’s a Christian program if im alone like the chosen for example. When I say I don’t desire it’s no longer a sacrifice I just plainly have no want in me to do so , besides 80 % percent of programming these days are either blasphemous or non beneficial for my spirit or soul . Screen time on my phone is more than enough and it just doesn’t interest me whatsoever

  7. What a joke to make some type of distinction between descriptive and prescriptive. According to Christians all that violence ACTUALLY happened, versus a FICTIONAL movie. So then you're belabored to figure out: Who was the originator of that violence? The god who committed 158 mass murders of his own? The god who literally told people to not kill, but 40 years and 10 minutes later it was a-okay to go and kill entire communities that had been in the land for 400 years? The god who said you'd eat your own children because he would force you to? (Yes, Virginia, there are a whole set of verses saying THAT in your bible).

  8. I think it's ridiculous when Christians act like they're so fragile and can't be exposed to anything that is unholy. The story of the crucifixion itself is completely violent and torturous. Christians should be strong warriors fighting for what's good and right. They shouldn't behave like vulnerable cowards. And clearly, little kids are not included in this; Christians who are young adults and older ought to realize that they are Crusaders for Christ.
