  1. Animal sacrifice was not an excuse to sin, it was for repentance. If you were offering sacrifices then without a good conscience and heart of repentance… you'll be wasting your time.

    If God didn't look at the human conscience and suddenly did in the New Testament, would that not indicate change?

  2. I've never heard of sanctification spoken of in this light before. Sanctification in the Old Testament was keeping God's law in its entirety.
    God's law, given through Moses, consisted of ritual cleansing, but that's not simply all it was.

    He seems to use sanctification to mean two different things exclusively.

    Penance is a natural part of repentance, but he seems to conflate it with sanctification. They are not the same. Penance for sin is always required… Penance is not necessarily giving a sacrificial offering. It is the heart that matters in penance..

    After initial justification, sanctification is simply the ongoing justification that happens in the life of the Christian.

    Sanctification means abiding in God and growing progressively in holiness.
