I say this to my parents all the time. I understand & accept the realities for you at the time, the mistakes, the thought process, the not knowing how… what gets me to decide if I cut you off or not is when now as an adult I express to you what my experience was is their accountability or deflection? Is there acceptance or rejection? Are you prideful or humble? This is the test.
I’m in tears, I so miss my father. I too am a teen mom, the enemy wants us to carry that same shame Eve knew in the garden which was never what God desired for us. When you dropped some of your shame your pain developed into your purpose. THANK YOU FOR THE COURAGE OF EXPOSING THE WORDS OF THE ENEMY TO BLESS SO MANY WOMAN FROM ALL GENERATIONS💙🦚💙🦚💙🦚
I am from a generation that grew up with Bishop Jake's..He was the father of those near and those far, We were so engulfed in his teachings that we never knew or I never knew what was going on behind the scenes and in his family until I was away old to scroll the internet..Am glad I have watched this interview and as a woman I pray I get to have a conversation like this with my parents while they are still here..What a Legacy
The entire conversation that began at 44:00 may have honest-to-God changed my life forever. Thank you so much for talking about the expectations we have of our parents and whether it's fair to have those expectations, given what our parents experienced growing up.
I had a wonderful relationship w/my Dad. I was a teenage mother as well. I was so ashamed of myself. I felt I had put a stain on my last name. When I had to tell my Dad, I was scared so much. My Dad sat me on his lap & said to me, "We all make mistakes. I love you so much. That will never change"! He kissed me & hugged me at that point.Can I really express how I felt? I felt as though 1,000 pounds lifted off my chest. My Dad loved my son as much as he loved me! Thank You, God.
