“Build” is the key word. We often talk about people having or not having a testimony or losing a testimony as if it’s something that just happens by happenstance. A testimony has to be built. Building a strong testimony takes real work. I see a lot of people leaving who didn’t do the work needed to build a strong testimony. They definitely did some work but they weren’t willing to do whatever it took. Almost like they believed that avoiding sin and being a good person was all that was needed to have a testimony. Then when the trials of life came they left because they said God wasn’t blessing them and so it wasn’t worth it.
There’s a scripture in the Bible that I need to find that says “with all thy getting, get understanding.” In most cases the people I’m talking about never put in the study time necessary to “build” up their understanding of the gospel. Because they didn’t “feast upon the words of Christ” their foundations were built on the culture of the church & upon the philosophies of men mingled with scripture.
Jesus says we shall overcome by the power of our testimony and the blood of the lamb. Amen.
