My brother told me it was my subconscious speaking to me, but I believe God works through our subconscious to lead us in a positive moral direction. And truthfully most peoples morality comes from their upbringing, that’s why there is so much information in the Bible about marriage, about how to treat your spouse and raise your children. Typically families with a strong religious foundation raise morally good children who continue to pass on those values to offspring and God literally gives us a guide on how this should happen. At the end of the day I won’t judge any person who is decent and has decent morals if they do not believe in God. Do I mourn for your soul? Yes I do, but as long as you are at least decent to your fellow man and to the things you are given in this life, I’ll never judge you or look down upon you, any true Christian wouldn’t either.
