Possibly many of his members are playing poor so that they can keep getting help from the Church. I believe he wants his members to change that mentality
Ive watched his video and apostle arome response my take is this; Though his intention was right, and the actual message was "belivers should not settle for poverty" the presentation was wrong and the presentation is proof (by discernment) that curruption has crept into the heart. The statement "God hates poor people" was the clear unveiling of the curruption in the heart manifesting.
I think he just needs to do a heart check with God so the holy spirit can help him see if there is anything that has crept into his heart unawares
It's not totally a false doctrine. Remember English might not be our mother tongue, so our expressions might end up in unintended results. I agree that Jesus hates poverty, & also it is an error to remain poor when you come into the Kingdom of God or gets born again. However, Jesus doesn't hate the poor, but rather He came to redeem them from poverty. ( 2 Corinthians 8:9 ). So, Jesus does not like anyone to be poor.
