Jesus Disciples might have been ALOT younger than we thought…

  1. Or Jesus looked for virgins 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣 cause he was very particular about that cause it keeps you pure as possible and worthy of marriage in heaven Jesus loved children but would not pick actual young teenagers for a world following I’m sure they was 18-19 MAYBE 17 but eventually when everything started stirring up they was 20+

  2. Most Biblical Scholars are all almost certain that the Apostle John was about 17 years of age when Jesus was Crucified.

However, there were a few disciples who were definitely were NOT teens.

For example, Matthew was a Tax Collector. He worked for the Roman Empire. He was well established and likely would have had to prove himself in some other administrative roll before being given an assignment like Tax Collecting. It's very unlikely that he was a teen when he started following Jesus, because he would have had to be about 20 years old before he could be an administrative assistant, let alone a Tax Collector in his own right. It's possible that he was notably older than Jesus.

Judas Iscariot was also likely to be older. Judas was the one entrusted with the money Jesus received as part of His ministry. He would have been one of the older Disciples. It's very likely that he was about as old as Matthew; otherwise, why wasn't Matthew in charge of the money? Such a responsibility would have likely been given to an older Disciple.

However, given the fact that many of the disciples did not live to very old age, I do agree that it's very likely that most of the disciples were teens.

On the point of Peter and Jesus being covered for the Temple Tax, but the other Disciples aren't mentioned; it's important to note that not all of the Disciples followed Jesus 100% of the time.

Jesus did send them out, from time to time, or even sent some of them ahead of Him. So, Jesus didn't always have all 12 with him. Peter, James, & John were the 3 that were almost always with Jesus. Just because marital status is not mentioned doesn't mean that none of them were married.

  3. Okay that's actually made so much sense, the disciple are so adventurous, curious and sometimes a bit "teenager naive", like how they try to driving out children from meeting Jesus, like senior drives out junior classmen from disturbing their class during lunch time

  4. interesting theory but need more research. The bible doesn't mention it more because they aren't relevant and in history you can actualy see the record, like james brother of jesus was arround 30-31 when Jesus was crucified because he become part of important people recorded by Flavius

  5. Luke was a doctor and Matthew was a tax collector. I guess not many patients would trust a doctor if he is a teenager. It is also hard to believe that Rom would let a kid somewhere near their tax money.

  6. So Matthew, Mark, and Luke were probably a little older because they had careers, tax collector, scholar and physician. This theory is definitely worth researching, studying to show ourselves approved keeps us on our toes!

  7. The Chosen is what brought me back to Jesus because of how relatable it is. I never thought I was worthy enough to be accepted but when these people were shown as real people who experienced real life it changed my perspective. I am so thankful
