If the Pharisees existed in Christianity today.. wouldn’t it look EXACTLY like Roman Catholicism? Starting out in truth but falling away over time, valuing traditions of man over scripture, more concerned with earthly prestige and appearances than eternal treasures, seeking approval of others as opposed to seeking truth, earning your salvation based on ever evolving doctrines. These traits are all in the Pharisees. The curtain was torn.
The fact that you say “show me in the Bible“, BUT you want to argue over “whose interpretation of the Bible?”, reveals the real issue. Kind of like trying to put the cart (Bible) before the horse (Church that gave us the Bible)?
The mention and significance of “The Twelve” isn’t in your Bible anywhere? I think you might need a new Bible, or check Acts 2:42 (“they devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles…”)!
You’re asking Catholics to prove the Pope using only the Bible, but that rule isn’t even in the Bible. Show me where Jesus taught Scripture-alone. You can’t. The Bible never says that. In fact, the Bible says the CHURCH is the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim 3:15), and Christians must hold to oral AND written tradition (2 Thess 2:15). So the standard you’re demanding is already unbiblical.
Second—you're using a Bible whose table of contents was decided by Catholic bishops under the authority of the Bishop of Rome in the 4th century. So you’re asking Catholics to prove the Pope using a book that literally came from the Pope’s own Church. If you trust the Bible, you already trust a Catholic decision.
Third—if the papacy isn’t biblical, then show me where YOUR church’s structure is in Scripture. Show me your denomination, your independent pastor system, your worship model, your interpretive method, your Sunday format, or your dispute-settling structure. None of that is in the Bible. But Peter as the chief shepherd, given the keys (Isaiah 22 > Matthew 16), strengthening his brethren (Luke 22:32), feeding Christ’s sheep (John 21), and leading the Church in Acts—that’s all biblical.
Christianity without a living authority doesn’t exist anywhere in Scripture. Christ never builds anything without a leader. Twelve apostles? One leader. A kingdom? One steward with keys. A flock? One shepherd. A Church? Also one chief shepherd, and Scripture shows exactly who that was.
So before you say “show me the Pope in the Bible,” show me where Jesus established your church, your founder, your structure, your authority, or your method. You won’t find it. But you will find Peter. And you’ll find succession. And you’ll find the Church Christ actually built.
As a Protestant that is very close to becoming Catholic. You cannot put your trust in the pope alone. It is indeed a risk and Protestants are skeptical of the credibility of the pope because of former corruption. At the end of the day we trust Christ. We trust the true work of the Holy Spirit to keep and protect his true sheep. 🐑 any well educated Protestant becomes Catholic
Show me some credible evidence of ANY god from ANY religion and I'll submit to that religion. Problem is, billions of people from so many different religions insist that they have evidence for THEIR particular god from THEIR religion, but all those other people from the other religions aren't buying it.
The Gospels literally say there is so much more not recorded in them, and that Jesus gave clear instructions to the apostles. Plus if you believe the people who compiled the canon of scripture why do you disbelieve them regarding tradition?
Who’s okay who’s interpretation then Mr. Mike Winger. Becuase you Protestants don’t even agree with each other. I would rather go with the majority of Church Fathers than a Protestant Pastor interpretation with all do respect. The Pope is not just making stuff up he goes with the Deposit of Faith.
When someone wakes up one day and decides that he is a pastor. That is what happens. No magisterium, no authority. Has he gone for bible college.? Just some self taught guru. 😂
Give this man a break. He just wants to make a living. Go after those who start up their own denominatiom whenever they could.
The more i listen to him, the more i feel that the bible is not enough. . Simply a single dimension belief. He cannot even imitate Christ cause Christ did so many earthly things. . Cause his faith is based on a written book and not the person of Christ.
Jesus said to be like him and not just believe in him. That is the twofold commandment. Faith in God and Doing the will of the Father.
In scripture, Jesus gave Peter the keys to the Kingdom. Thats authority. Not someone who decides one day that he has the only true belief. Becauae there can ibe only 1 truth , many falsehoods 😂
If he is seekiing the truth, he would have already found it. No need to debate.
Not being fair to him. We have so much more than mere scripture.
The core of catholicism is the person of christ in the trinity and not just the book.
The book is integral but Christ is so much more. So why stop there? Its one way of imparting the faith. It is integral but not complete.
Cause Martin Luther could change the bible, can it have a authority when soneone can change the written word unilaterally and arbituarily. Removing whole books because tbey do not conform to their tbeology, their so called true beliefs.
I'dI rather have the magisterium and centuries of scholarship than someone like Winger or any other self taught guru.
He is not up against the pope but the centuries of theologians including the early church Fathers who's linege is from Christ and his apostles. Thats true authority.
I hereby challlenge Winger ro prove sola scriptura using scripture alone. 😂
By God's grace, I belong to THE Catholic Church, not the Roman Catholic Church. Christ is the head of the Catholic (Universal) Church. He did not point anyone to Mary for salvation. His words have been: "Those who come to Me, I will never cast out". John 6:37. May we come to Him and to Him directly with full trust only in Him for salvation. 🙏🏼
Hi Mike. I like your video about the various views of the end times. Great job there. Regarding the question you pose, 0:42 , about “the Pope in the Bible”, what do you make of these two typologies in the Bible: Isaiah 22:15-25, Shebna / Eliakim is each in turn the palace administrator, or the equivalent of the kingdom’s prime minister (we seem them in negotiations, too, in 2 Kings 18: 18). The verse in Isaiah 22:22 “keys of the kingdom” which accompany the role (like the one who bears the keys to the city) parallels Matthew 16:19. Also, there’s this “chair of Moses” concept in Matthew 23:2, another similar “throne” of authority, which symbolizes some kind of role of leadership within the Jewish community. So there is “the chair of Peter”. Kinda like the authority that Paul references in Acts 23:5 about the position of (not the man occupying) the role of High Priest.
Ironically you act like the sole authority … you’re not the pope and can’t over ride what the bible says … the church is the pillar and bulwark of truth.
Ne 8 … those with authority interpret scripture
Christ … only those with authority can teach
You are not a successor of the apostles, stop trying to interpret scripture
Mike, after 33 years of being an evangelical (sort of) Christian, i became a Catholic. There is actually tons of evidence for the papacy, lots in the scripture, if you are willing to listen and hear.
Yep all comes down to what you want to recognize as “authority”—BUT—everyone agrees that the Bible is infallible authority so I think I’ll put my eggs in that basket. I have called upon the name of the Lord therefore I believe I am saved. Romans 10:13.
Catholics gave you scripture as you know it today. If the church had the authority to do that, but has been wrong ever since, well then that doesn’t make very much sense now does it?
No we think as Catholics that you took our Book that we canonized and fought and died for 1,200 years and have misinterpreted it and removed books from it.. Right now even as Catholics we do not put that much faith in the last two Popes and many of the current Cardinals and bishops, they are breaking with Tradition. 2,000 years of the teachings handed down from the Apostles. That is what we measure our leaders by. See if your interpretation of scripture and church structure matches that of the 1st centuries of the Church. Read the writings of Ignatius of Antioch, Polycarp, Clement. Tradition came before scripture, Jesus wrote nothing down. He gave the authority to bind and loose to 12 men and to one of them he gave the keys to the kingdom. If your church cannot trace it's leadership to the Apostles you are not in the Church established by our Lord. When the Church gets as bad as the Jews in the 1st Century He will probably return. If the Church doesn't get it's act together, like they did at the Council of Nicea or the Council of Trent He will come and then everyone will know the Truth. Don't measure a 2,000 year old institution on the actions of a few men at any period of time, look at the entire history.
We don't tend (though we win there too) go straight to Scripture in our disagreement because the fundamental disagreement is on how revelation is transmitted. You guys just presuppose the Bible which makes your religion irrational. There's also so much strawmen we have to diffuse, it just makes more sense to get right to the fundamental disagreement. Especially for people that listen to people like Mike Winger that are the peak representation of arrogance coated in syrup. He doesn't listen to anyone. At least there are Protestants honest enough to know we don't actually believe in works salvation. Literally just read the catechism on justification. sigh
My daddy was brought up Catholic and dropped off on the steps of the Seminary when he was 12 to become a priest of the Jesuit order. The fact that it is a story about my daddy should tell you he didn't stick with it. The shorter version of the story was that he was serially molested buy older seminarians and when he went to those in authority did not believe him. Anyway, when I was a teenager and would go to early morning Bible study, it gave him cause for concern because of his experience. But when I would question him more closely, they never studied the Bible. They learned Latin and, I would guess the other human additions of which you speak.
Biggest question of them all…..why do ALL Catholics have to drink alcohol? Not 1 have I ever met that won't get drunk on wine, beer, or whiskey….biggest turn off for me in those churches….they absolutely CANNOT live without alcohol in their church or home liquor cabinet in a closet or under stairwell …makes no sense
“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” — Bible, Matthew 16:18–19
"I'm not rebellious by nature"
As a Protestant, rebellion is in your spiritual DNA. I didn't realize the extent of it when I was a Protestant myself.
You'll become a Catholic when you grow in humility sufficiently to submit to the authority of the Catholic Church.
Praying for you 🙏
This is one of the preachers who is telling us the microchip is not the mark

Catholics whole life is about finding excuses to certain things bible condemns..
I have a loved one who is catholic and they believe in purgatory and works and I'm scared for her.
The more I study the Roman Catholic Church the more I disagree with it

Jesus started catholisicem though
The Gospels literally say there is so much more not recorded in them, and that Jesus gave clear instructions to the apostles. Plus if you believe the people who compiled the canon of scripture why do you disbelieve them regarding tradition?
As human adds his own addition on the subject.
You can get Catholics and Protestants spitting at each other like cats…
They fight each other as much as they fight non-believers!….
Catholic doctrines are literally founded on scripture
Stop trying to be a populist, Mike. Catholicism is NOT Biblical. It is a pagan religion, rife with idolatry.

The Pope doesn't interpret the Scriptures by himself but with other bishops in the Holy Office.
Yes too many traditions, they need to stay focused on scripture
Hey Mike, show me the Bible just using the Bible?
(Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32) (Revelation 22:18-19) Do not take or add to Gods word. 💜🙏✝️
Agreed 🎉
By God's grace, I belong to THE Catholic Church, not the Roman Catholic Church. Christ is the head of the Catholic (Universal) Church. He did not point anyone to Mary for salvation. Church is inundated with idols…

Amen. There are so many additions, ranging from moderately harmless, to dangerously close to horrible blasphemy.
Catholics gave you scripture as you know it today. If the church had the authority to do that, but has been wrong ever since, well then that doesn’t make very much sense now does it?
Yeah.. well they need true Gospel 🙂

That's the real divide, though. Bible isn't their end all be all.

Mike Winger is winging it.
Has no idea what he is talking about.
We have shown you Peter in the bible and historical record.
You have rejected it.
In addtion we actually adhere to ALL of scripture. Not twisting it.
Show me where the Bible says to use only the Bible and if you can show me where it says that I will leave the Catholic Church. Glory to Jesus Christ.
I'm convinced Jesus would flip tables over all the golden graven images and human body parts and bones on display used for worship.
Mike, you’re rebellious by nature. Read the Bible. That’s the point of this WHOOOOLE thing.
The Protestant dilemna
What a bunch of crap!
“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
