  1. You’re so right. What we have made of church has made us less human, alienated from ourselves and reality in the worst ways. This also alienates us from the level of grace and healing that we could have. We completely wear out our nervous systems and bodies and minds with all the unacknowledged grief and pain and anxiety that we carry and cover up with church antics and twisted theologies. This is not how the church of Jesus should function. What misery. 😢😢😢

  2. Dr. Lewis is a Powerhouse on the East Coast (NY, NJ, PA,, CT.). She's erudite, charismatic, a sought after didactic teacher, and Pentacostal griot who is STILL a wonderful Mother. She's known for her impeccable elocution regarding the Gospel, an elegant & Chic style matron, and an exacting academic.

  3. Speaking about "culture cues" are these damned baseball caps in chuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurch! And when church pulpits have evolved into "stages" and literal platforms, the wind of change is a tornado!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm probably the biggest fan of self-expression & sartorial swag, but there is STILL a fine line between individuality and freakishly out-of-order. This is not disparaging extreme High Fashion, denim or leather suits, mixing patterns & even wearing sequins before 5pm, cultural wear, tennis shoes/sandals with or without socks or hosiery… Conversely, I pray constituents aren't making an idol out of being able to be "flexible" in wardrobe in any temple where the name of JESUS is magnified and glorified. Be mindful that the church is a bonafide microcosm of the World. Let LOVE lead; to wit – "attire" should be able to be discussed.

  4. To David Allen's point, Trust me – Dr. Lewis is STILL cognizant that GODs Will is supreme. We (Pentacostals) are quite aware of the typology of "healing": literal and transitioning to mortality to immortality. Therefore, I'm certain Dr. L addressed the issue in religious/academic spaces (church) and intimately with her Icons, friends, KK's medical team, supporters and accepted GODs Will as resolute. I will salute Dr. Lewis she exemplified my mantra & Holy Writ: To Ehom Much Is Given That Much More Is Required. (paraphrased BUT still in context with Luke 12:48). And in the words of My former Bishop, THE Bishop James FordII (Im crying just typing this!!!!!!!): "Now Unto HIM Who Is Able To Keep You From Falling…,) *Jude 1:24-25

  5. So it would’ve been more appropriate for her to be falling out?… Telling someone how they should or should not behave at their child’s service is weird to me. That wasn’t a moment of mentorship for the masses; it was a time of celebration for her child. The fact that we feel entitled to critique everything someone else does is weird. What’s the difference in this and any other cultural celebration? Ex. I love how folks in New Orleans dance and play in the streets when a loved one passes. Are they somehow not being human?
