DISCLAIMER: this is just a bit of fun! While the core advice is 100% true, I’m dressing it up with a bit of exaggerated affect. I’m nice …

  1. Whether you're energized by this video or bummed and you hate me, please check out the rest of my videos! My normal style is in-depth, informative videos with a positive spin (no, really). I post regular pep talks, plus real talk about traditional publishing (because it's no walk in the park). Welcome 🙂

  2. It's probably the lamest thing ever, but my mother is more invested in my book than I am. I was just explaining a plot concept that I was going to sell to a fanfic author, and she had me hammer out the whole thing, fix all the holes in it until it was its own complete world, plot, and vague character designs.
I did not want to think that hard about it.

  3. I don't think traditional publishing is the enemy, I just wish rejections would tell you what errors you made so you could improve without just taking a shot in the dark and hope you fix the right thing. Or my experience when I send my query to an agent and get no response. I'd be happy to get rejection because at least it's a response.

  4. I wanted to write about my life but change the characters so that its a novel but i just got lowkey discouraged would it be ok if you looked at an over view of it please? i think it'll be worth writing (t.t)

  5. I got PISSED when she said "nobody has an original creation"
Oh? So you're telling me those 5 years I wasted away coming with an idea we're already taken? Well, that's just nice"
People DO create original things. It does matter on the writing but you don't have to be so extreme. Instead of helping me, this just discouraged me 😂😂

  6. I know this video is aimed to be harsh, but this has inspired me and oddly reassured me?

I may not have made a novel yet, but I’ve actually FINISHED fanfiction (so I guess short stories)

In the past I didn’t finish, but when I finished my first ever fanfiction… I began finishing more of them. I never expected them to be good, but I go back to read them and they’re tolerable

I could only imagine once I make a novel what emotions and things i’ll get into, but I’m gonna keep this video around

  7. "It's definitely going to suck" means "it's OK if it's not perfect or good, because you're only starting your journey"

Please warn us for unnecessarily harsh wording next time. I know the title says "Harsh" but it is "unnecessarily harsh" not just "harsh" OK.

  8. Most people seem to hate harsh advice. To me, it feels like a sharp ginger-shot to my soul. The burn is a good burn, it cleanses me of childish notions that i use to protect my fragile ego. Who's got time for shit like that? Give it to me rough, haha. Love it! Just started my first real book, this time I'll pull through if it is the last thing i do. Thank you, amazing video! I'll sub!

  9. Oh right. Good advice. And it's really hard to find beta readers, especially if you sit smack middle of a country that does not read the language you're writing in. So. Anyone out there interested in beta reading adult Fantasy about women's rights and freedom? My witch is fleeing inquisition and needs some companions …read more

  10. Ok, this is all great advice. 1 question though: What should I write about? Most of the shit I care about is really analytical and reviewing works of writing. Don't really know what to make with that.

  11. You’re right with everything that you said. I am 53 years old and never started a novel. I have written short stories and poetry which I have been published. I have started my outline. Well sort of started my outline, I’m building my characters right now. But I’m finally doing it
