Sermon notes Growing Up in God: The Salvation of Your Soul β September Conclave Day 1 β DR AROME OSAYI
(For personal study. Not a substitute for the message)
INTRODUCTION Theme: On Day 1 of the September Conclave, Osayi opens Growing Up in God around the salvation of the soul. From 1 Peter 1:3-9 he underlines salvation ready to be revealed in the last time: futuristic, not only the day you accepted Christ. Salvation is tripartite. Spirit regeneration at new birth is instant; clothing with a heavenly body at the rapture will be instant; the salvation of the soul is the Holy Spirit's process work. Hebrews 10:39 sets two directions: draw back unto perdition (waste, ruin, destruction), or believe unto the saving of the soul. Union with Christ is one-spirit marriage (1 Corinthians 6:17); spiritual progress begins with refusing to continue in sin. Solomon's Ecclesiastes project shows a soul that withholds nothing from desire. This age is investment under an invisible Jesus; the age to come is accountability and manifestation. Matthew 16:24-27 places discipleship at the soul: deny yourself, lose soul-life for His sake, find it in the glory. Matthew 7:21-23 warns that anointed, even saved workers can still hear "I never knew you" without intimacy and while walking as workers of lawlessness outside God's government. Grow up by daily vows of fidelity, self-denial, and going only where He sends.
Key Scriptures: 1 Peter 1:3-9; Hebrews 10:39; 1 Corinthians 6:17; Romans 6 motif as taught; Ecclesiastes 2:1-10 and 11:9; James 5:5-8 as read; Matthew 16:24-27; Matthew 7:21-23; rapture / heavenly-body frame; faith in the Person Jesus.
Purpose: To show salvation's accomplished, ongoing, and future aspects and the cost of carelessness about the soul; to name soul-salvation as process between instant spirit and body works; to set Hebrews 10:39's fork; to ground progress in one-spirit fidelity; to use Solomon and the two ages so choices register as seed; to teach Matthew 16 self-denial; to warn from Matthew 7 against anointing without intimacy and government; to charge daily denial and operating under God's sendings.
MAIN TEACHINGS Salvation ready to be revealed; three aspects. 1 Peter 1:3-9: begotten again unto lively hope and an incorruptible inheritance, kept by God's power through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. That phrase is futuristic, not only the altar call. Scripture also shows deliverance accomplished, ongoing, and future: we are saved, being saved, and shall be saved. Blindness here breeds carelessness some preachers promote. While Jesus is concealed in the Holy Ghost, encounter needs faith; another dispensation will make contact as physical presence. Salvation is deep and elastic; do not flatten it.
Tripartite salvation: spirit and body instant; soul process. God wants spirit, soul, and body saved. Faith that saves is faith in a Person, Jesus. Spirit impact at the altar call is regeneration: the Holy Spirit tabernacles the spirit and makes it alive, instantly. Rapture: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom; a spiritual body is domiciled in heaven; clothing comes in a twinkling, also instant. The process work the Spirit spends time on is the salvation of the soul. Preferring only instant miracles misses this major work.
Hebrews 10:39: perdition or saving the soul. Two directions after new birth: draw back unto perdition (waste, perish, ruin), or believe unto the saving of the soul. Drive salvation's privileges to God's end. Voices that say you cannot sin away your salvation can push lasciviousness toward perdition; deliberate practice of sin is infidelity that ruins. Identify and remember such names. The conference stands on "we are not of them": stay on course as Jesus vowed none would be plucked from His hand. Soul-salvation is process; spirit-salvation was instant. The syllabus is long; Day 1 only begins it.
One spirit, marriage fidelity, progress and sin. 1 Corinthians 6:17: joined to the Lord, one spirit. Wedding picture: heart-belief becomes mouth-confession; God makes mystical union. Natural marriage is one flesh; Christ-union is one spirit. Because of the joining He whispers and directs from the spirit. Progress is deliberate. It begins with Romans 6: shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? You cannot stay in sin and progress. On the wedding day only Jesus vowed; our side can still shipwreck the marriage. Partnership: drawing back heads toward perdition; the genuinely saved do not aim there.
Solomon and the two ages. Ecclesiastes 2: Solomon becomes the guinea pig of pleasure, wine, works, and treasure so you need not. Verse 10: whatsoever my eyes desired I kept not from them. Take all the soul asks and you end in perdition; walk with God requires denying soul-desire inside His commandments. Ecclesiastes 11:9: enjoy youth, but God will bring you to judgment. Present age: invisible Jesus, investment, liberty of choice with coming account. Age to come: accountability, evaluation, manifestation. James 5: rich living fattens for slaughter; be patient like farmers; the Lord is coming. Everything now is seed; His appearing starts evaluation that sets life's worth. With venue and sound they can teach for insulation, not only fire and close.
Matthew 16: deny yourself; soul-life lost and found. If any will come after Me, deny himself. Soul is seat of personality; Christ dwells in the spirit. Fall-shaped soul desires conflict with spirit personality. Self-denial refuses the soul so covenant in the spirit holds. Discipleship cost borders choices and actions. Spirit saved; soul-salvation runs until death or His coming. Daily vows: choose what Jesus wants, deny what you want. Repayment for denial lands chiefly in the age of manifestation. Save/lose life from Greek as soul-life: lose it for His sake and find greater equivalents; rank tomorrow tracks denial today. Gaining the whole world (even a Cybertruck) profits nothing if the soul is lost.
Matthew 7 and God's government. Not everyone saying Lord, Lord enters; yet callers on His name are saved. Many will cite prophecy, casting out devils, wonderful works. Evaluation can find anointing still flowing while self was never refused. "I never knew you" is intimacy language; workers of iniquity means lawlessness outside His government. If He rules He constrains. Testimony: glamorous African invitations God said He did not open; one poor sending He owned; a boy who never walked stood and walked while Osayi taught; nations trekked because he was sent. Let God say go or stay. Closing prayer: daily denials as fidelity; invest for recognition in the kingdom to come; more tomorrow on self-denial versus bearing the cross.
KEY TAKEAWAYS β Day 1 September Conclave: Growing Up in God centres the salvation of the soul (1 Peter 1:3-9). β Three aspects: spirit instant, soul process, body instant at the clothing / rapture. β We are saved, being saved, and shall be saved; do not go blind to the soul dimension. β Hebrews 10:39: do not draw back unto perdition; believe unto the saving of the soul. β One-spirit union demands fidelity; progress starts by refusing to continue in sin. β Solomon withheld nothing from desire; deny soul-desire inside God's commandments. β This age = investment; the next = accountability and manifestation of true rank. β Matthew 16: deny yourself; lose soul-life for His sake; find greater reward and rank. β Matthew 7: gifts without intimacy and government still fail as lawlessness. β Daily vows; go only where God sends; share sound teaching until false messengers lose business.
CONCLUSION This Day 1 word plants Growing Up in God on the salvation of the soul. From 1 Peter 1 Osayi refuses a flattened gospel: salvation accomplished in the spirit, underway in the soul, and still ready to be revealed when the body is clothed and the last time unfolds. Hebrews 10:39 will not let the church stop at altar calls while it draws back unto perdition. We are joined to the Lord as one spirit; that marriage demands fidelity, not slogans that baptise ongoing sin. Solomon already ran the experiment of a soul that keeps nothing back. This age is investment; the next is accountability. Matthew 16 puts the cost on the soul: deny yourself, lose soul-life for His sake, and find what this world cannot equal. Matthew 7 warns that wonderful works without intimacy or government still end with "I never knew you." Prefer the poor door God opens to the glamorous door He never sanctioned. Make the daily vow of fidelity by denying what the soul demands, so evaluation finds you under His government and recognised in the kingdom to come.
