This was an absolutely amazing story. I know former members of New Birth during the time of the scandal and allegedly the breaking news was to be that Vanessa Long was filing for a divorce and had not lived with Bishop Long in years. However before she filed for a divorce the first time, the sex scandal dropped. So the reason why Bishop Long was allowed to sleep in bed with the young boys in his home was because Mrs. Long was not in the home allegedly. I read the deposition and there was more inappropriate behavior than sex. I believe it was one young man testified there was one oral interaction between he and Bishop Long but all four young men according to the deposition did sleep in the bed and kiss Bishop Long. The transwoman who never sued was a story that I had not heard. Great investigative work. The movie "Honk for Jesus" is a satirical comedy allegedly about the scandal. I did view it and though the script was disappointing, Sterling Brown and Regina Hall did an amazing acting job.

Honk for Jesus captured a bunch. My friends attended during the scandal and it rocked a bunch of folks. The sad part is how much they actually did for the community… Two things can be true. Peace to the victims, they didn't deserve to be treated that way by a person that claims to serve God's people 🙏🏾
Thank you for this report. Eddie Long was a terrible person. He belonged in prison. I suppose he’s in the next best place. Boys and young men are safe from him now. I’m certain that there would have been even more victims had he lived long enough. 🥺
Ironically, Eddie Long was replaced by a serial philanderer. That church didn’t learn anything from that experience.😕 His wife didn’t either, apparently.
I hope Long’s victims are getting the help that they need and are healthy and leading fulfilling lives now. I suppose you never forget an experience like that.
I was an active member and actually we all (or at least most members) called him dad. So the part about the disguise is not true. Its actually a (southern) Baptist thing to call people spiritual sons and daughters.
Ummm there was one year our church attended a conference in Baltimore Maryland on the east coast. Myself and 2 other ladies skipped service one day and decided to see the city. We went to their Mall, and ran up on Eddie Long'nem. There were a lot of young guys with him. He took special note of us, because of the 90's hairstyles my friends wore. And yep, we took pics. Eddie wanted one pic of us for himself,, in particular, with the hair styles. Small world. They had on much jewelry. (But We were in a Mall). The guys seemed so young, and the pastor was skippin' church (like us), I initially remember thinking. 👁️👁️
Materialism is what a lot of people confuse for selling your soul. The confusion comes when the materialistic needs leads to choices outside of what they would normally choose. That's selling your soul for personal gain.
My old church went to their youth conference back in the day before the scandal came out. I always thought it was strange how he was always wearing muscle shirts.
During that time years ago, I was eating lunch at Ruby Tuesdays in Decatur GA and Eddie Long walked in. This was during the height of his popularity. He told the waitress that he was meeting a young man for lunch and wanted to be seated in the back of the waitress. Well..a young male came in and was seated at his table. At the time I thought it was odd and it explained a lot when the case came out.

Nosy staying married doesn’t mean you’re together. She stayed legally married so she could inherit everything after his passing.
