I love hearing Lake’s definition of consciousness-a term that is used more often by other spiritualities today.
Isn’t the diversity of personality so rich in the early Pentecostal movement? Wigglesworth and Etter like grandpa and grandma with a life full of lessons and scripture only lessons. Then one like Aimee Semple-McPherson who used theater and media, and John G Lake, who had a scientific mind and used the principles of science of his day to relate spiritual truths. And there were so many more in different communities and nations all over the world. The individuality is inspiring.
God uses us all all, using our different individual interests, education, and personalities, with the backdrop of our languages and cultures to bring “treasures old and new.” Whatever your background, whatever your interests-you see the world in a way that no one else does-and that means that God can show the world something through you that He can with no other. Let Him spread heavenly wisdom through the filter of your perspective. It doesn’t matter if it helps only one-it doesn’t matter if there is only one true hearer of the light that God shares through you- everything starts with one. Everything.
He made you. Be yourself. Shake off what isn’t you, and fortify what you are. If He made you a spacesuit helmet, don’t be a fishbowl. If He made you a tire for a race car, don’t be a swing.
And if He put His Spirit in you and gave you a prayer language so that you could change the world with even just your prayers at home-don’t let many silent moments pass without stirring up the Gift that is within you.
I believe that when we step into eternity, after we chat up some Bible heroes and eat some of that year-round fruit that we will have a chance to see what is now hidden behind the veil of natural sight. And when we see what our prayers in the Spirit had accomplished, what tragedies were eliminated or minimized, and what good was put forth in the world that needed to be prayed by those to whom the world was given—I think then we will finally appreciate the purpose for which the amazing gift was given. But then, it will be too late to do anything about it.
So, now is a great time to consider it. Right?
God is God, and He’s with you. So you do you, and see what He can do. 🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏿❤🌍🌏🌎❤🙏🏿🙏🏽🙏🏻
