As a middle age dad and husband with a Pap that mined coal, this song embodies a lot of us! Please keep being real with your beautiful message of our roots! You make us proud brother!
this one hit me during my first listen of the album. dad ain’t perfect but neither am i. i’m proud and thankful for him. this song really makes me remember that, thanks CWG
Granddaughter, Daughter and now the wife of a proud WV Coal Miner who works on the Mine Rescue team. Love this song so very much and can’t wait to share it. Keep up the great work. 💙💛
Coal country has certainly picked up some “miner imperfections” here recently. Maybe they need to remember people from all over the world came to mine coal.
This one took a while to really set in. I am 20. Married young and am on my own. I never really looked up to my dad until I wisened up a little bit and looked past his minor imperfections. I was a dumb kid. I am now halfway done with a degree in engineering. I use to think that I did it all myself as I am the first person on my dad's side to ever get a degree but looking back, I realize that if it wasn't for the sacrifices he made I would never be where I am now.
To all the miners that sacraficed their lungs, time & everyday life with your familes. I just want you to know you are greatly appreciated. They may not give you recognition or awards or even acknowledge your hard work but just know you do what we can't bc of our selfish needs. I salute your dedication and the sacrafices you have made for this country. You are as much of a hero in my eyes as are our service men who fight for the freedom we take for granted. ❤
I never met my grandfather 😔😔 he died from Black Lung when my mother was little. All I know is he was a great father to 8 Serbian/Croation kids Thank you for this beautiful song 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Son as a son to a blue color Dad and Grandpa. I got nothing but respect for them. Getting up early coming home late. Putting in those long days whether of a snowing or raining or sunshine to provide for a family that they love. Now as a 43 yrear old man I’m in the same footsteps as those before me. With the family of three little ones I’m hoping that as they grow up they are proud of their father with all his minor imperfections.
God bless you, brother.
Thank you for this Charles. I love seeing you perform. So happy that you have come to Ashland. we love you here. don't be a stranger.
This is such a sentimental song ❤
Great!
One of my favorites from the album. Gives me goosebumps! That's the stuff right there.

Thank you Sir!! As a third generation Ohio Coal Miner, this song really hits a note!!
Today's my late father's birthday. He passed almost a decade ago now. Thank you for this song and the memories and feelings it causes.
My father wasn't a miner, but a rancher. Change that word and a few miner references and this song is my father ❤
