Yes, important to know the history of the movement, whichever branch of Pentecostal or charismatic we hail from.
Knowing the history then begs the question: do we seek change and reform within the movement in pursuit of Christ, or is the foundation of doctrinal distinctives so fundamentally flawed that it deviates from Biblical truth?
I grew up in, and still attend a Pentecostal church. I can not say that what I read in the Bible denies or rejects what I have believed about God. Yet I can practice critical thinking, and am coming to find that as I seek to know God through His Word and prayer, that I am noticing a significant difference in how I approach understanding doctrinal distinctives, some of which I agree with, and some I absolutely do not.
For anyone who has read this far, I encourage you to know that faith in Jesus is what's important, not faith in the Apostle, Prophet or the movement itself. Seek Jesus.

As a new Christian (6yrs) I’m learning the importance of critical thinking, while I can take information in from various pastors, I’m learning to “sit with it” and let the Holy Spirit clarify and delineate what is a correct teaching and what is not. I choose not to be “fed” by someone else. I believe this is consistent with your teachings here. I appreciate this confirmation, Ty.
The best book is definitely the Azusa Street Missione and revival by Robeck goes to every detail, excellent research and read. Thanks for these difficult and needy videos you’re doing.

I think we have to give them some Grace. They were kinda pioneering something that hadn’t fully been experienced before. Also a lot of churches don’t have problems because they never really do anything that threatens the devils work. I mean just having mixed races worshipping together was a major break through, that we would almost have to attribute the outboard of the Holy Spirit. Blessings! Roberts Liardon is not a nice person. I drove him back and forth from the airport to the hotels he stayed in during conferences. Ive been to many of his meetings. Not going to go into deep detail but… he's not who he seems.
