For any christian teens struggling: The more time you spend with God and abide in Him, HE will be the one to produce the good fruits in your life, like love, joy, peace, patience, self control etc. John 15:4-5 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.". Moreover, your mind will be renewed as you spend time in God, feeding the spirit even if its hard, by reading God's word, prayer, being around other christians to support you and keep you accountable to not do certain things. As you feed the spirit, soon other fleshy habits will no longer appeal to you, but make you feel convicted and even worse. Galatians 5:16 "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh". Psychologically, the more you do something (like read the bible) or avoid doing certain things you know are wrong, new neuropathways will form, and the more you repeat it, it'll be easier for your brain to do it!! That passage above in Galatians acknowledges this 🙂
Further, stand strong amidst temptations: 1 Peter 5:9 "Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings". Stand firm and yield your fleshly sin desires to God, and if you fall, God provides grace and his power is made perfect in your weaknesses! (2 corinthians 12:9). Proverbs 24:16 "For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes".
