I agree so much with that point of showing people having sex on film, it's so pointless. Especially when they're super vivid about it, I just get the vibe that the director is a pervert who wanted to see this actress naked. There is no excuse for showing sex scenes. You can hint at the point that those people had sex, that's good enough, like people will get the idea. We know what sex is, we don't need to see it lol it takes away from the film, and it's distracting. This is why I stopped watching Spartacus after, like, the third episode, because it just started feeling like a porn show. Every other scene was a sex scene.

I’m confused by Zach’s helmet-head hair. It looks like spray-on hair. But otherwise, what a great real life story this was. Incredible. We have NONE of this anymore. They are all such selfish, awful human beings, shamelessly exploiting the trust of fans, conspicuously consuming, whining, complaining, and being completely pandered to by owners and coaches, it makes me sick to my stomach. I used to love football. I haven’t watched a game in over 2 years. I started to feel bad, almost dirty, when I would watch, as I would become more and more angry, by the minute, with the constant ads, the shilling of the announcers ears, just so phony. They are all so blatantly selfish, and these awful phony virtue signals, slapped onto the fields, the helmets, when most of these idiots, owners included, couldn’t give a crap about the suffering of others. I actually like sappy, but good, Christian movies. My life is not easy. It never was. But God gets my through every trial by going through it with me. When I watch a movie I hope for a good ending… a good ending for a struggling person gives us hope.
Haven't see the film, but I wonder something about the integrity of its values. I get that we all have potential and its tragic if something holds us back from achieving our dreams, whether those barriers are personal or societal. But in the trailer we see him stocking shelves in a supermarket. My question is, is there something wrong with that? It reminded me of Saturday Night Fever where the John Travolta character is working in a hardware store like thousands of ordinary people do, or millions, but that job is denigrated as for 'losers' by the film in favour of Travolta showing the world what a great disco dancer he is. Perhaps we do need heroes on some level, but not everyone can be a hero and there is dignity in all honest work that contributes to a community, so I wonder if the supermarket and hardware employees watching the movie might be made to feel lesser than or not 'valued' for their service. If that's what comes across, I would not think of the movie as very Christian.
"Christian" films have the same problem that "feminist" films have, or films focusing on any ideology, really. People do NOT like being preached to when they are just trying to be entertained.
So, if you want to make a a good Christian film.. make a good film that happens to have some Christian themes in it, just like if you want to make a good feminist film, make a good film that happens to have some feminist themes. Don't make Christianity the central theme of your film if you want it to actually entertain people.. make a hero that is a good person that we can't help but like… and also happens to be a Christian… ONE of their many qualities, not just the central one.
One of the reasons I've never watched Daily Wire's movie Shut In… it looked interesting in the preview, until the scene with the cross and her starting to pray to it. If I want a sermon, I'll go to church. Is Shut In overly-preachy? I have no idea, because the preview turned me off with the embedded ideological messaging.
It's an identical issue to a trailer that slaps me with a feminist message..maybe the movie is good despite the messaging, but I'll never know, because the trailer implied to me that it was going to be an ideological sermon of some sort or another, and I'm not interested in those when I'm just in the mood for a movie.
I saw this movie with my 7 year old Pop Warner playing, football loving, grandson. He liked the movie so much he asked me to rent it on Amazon a few weeks after seeing it at the EVO outside of Austin. It I an ‘all ages’ film that anyone, even non-football fans and/or non-Christians will enjoy. Klavan is correct in his praise and his criticism. The movie is not the greatest I’ve ever seen, but definitely in my top 5 this year for movies I can watch with anyone.

I highly recommend Martin Scorsese's "Silence" (2017) for a deeply Christian masterpiece of cinema.

* No one can force you to become a good human being.

* '' YOUR'' life is a TEST from God that you will choose to do either Good or Bad.
* Find the excuse to help others and forgive others NOT the other way around.

I’m confused by Zach’s helmet-head hair. It looks like spray-on hair. But otherwise, what a great real life story this was. Incredible. We have NONE of this anymore. They are all such selfish, awful human beings, shamelessly exploiting the trust of fans, conspicuously consuming, whining, complaining, and being completely pandered to by owners and coaches, it makes me sick to my stomach. I used to love football. I haven’t watched a game in over 2 years. I started to feel bad, almost dirty, when I would watch, as I would become more and more angry, by the minute, with the constant ads, the shilling of the announcers ears, just so phony. They are all so blatantly selfish, and these awful phony virtue signals, slapped onto the fields, the helmets, when most of these idiots, owners included, couldn’t give a crap about the suffering of others. So they pick the criminal grifters, like the morons they are, to offer free publicity to, because we are all so dumb, we will ignore all the horrific things they do, daily, if you just slap “BLM” all over the place.. So arrogant. So presumptuous. They absolutely look down on every single human being they should be cultivating as fans. Scum. I hope they rot.

I just ordered this movie… very timely, holy crap
I actually like sappy, but good, Christian movies. My life is not easy. It never was. But God gets my through every trial by going through it with me. When I watch a movie I hope for a good ending… a good ending for a struggling person gives us hope.

Haven't see the film, but I wonder something about the integrity of its values. I get that we all have potential and its tragic if something holds us back from achieving our dreams, whether those barriers are personal or societal. But in the trailer we see him stocking shelves in a supermarket. My question is, is there something wrong with that? It reminded me of Saturday Night Fever where the John Travolta character is working in a hardware store like thousands of ordinary people do, or millions, but that job is denigrated as for 'losers' by the film in favour of Travolta showing the world what a great disco dancer he is. Perhaps we do need heroes on some level, but not everyone can be a hero and there is dignity in all honest work that contributes to a community, so I wonder if the supermarket and hardware employees watching the movie might be made to feel lesser than or not 'valued' for their service. If that's what comes across, I would not think of the movie as very Christian.

"Christian" films have the same problem that "feminist" films have, or films focusing on any ideology, really. People do NOT like being preached to when they are just trying to be entertained.
So, if you want to make a a good Christian film.. make a good film that happens to have some Christian themes in it, just like if you want to make a good feminist film, make a good film that happens to have some feminist themes. Don't make Christianity the central theme of your film if you want it to actually entertain people.. make a hero that is a good person that we can't help but like… and also happens to be a Christian… ONE of their many qualities, not just the central one.
One of the reasons I've never watched Daily Wire's movie Shut In… it looked interesting in the preview, until the scene with the cross and her starting to pray to it. If I want a sermon, I'll go to church. Is Shut In overly-preachy? I have no idea, because the preview turned me off with the embedded ideological messaging.
It's an identical issue to a trailer that slaps me with a feminist message..maybe the movie is good despite the messaging, but I'll never know, because the trailer implied to me that it was going to be an ideological sermon of some sort or another, and I'm not interested in those when I'm just in the mood for a movie.

I saw this movie with my 7 year old Pop Warner playing, football loving, grandson. He liked the movie so much he asked me to rent it on Amazon a few weeks after seeing it at the EVO outside of Austin. It I an ‘all ages’ film that anyone, even non-football fans and/or non-Christians will enjoy. Klavan is correct in his praise and his criticism. The movie is not the greatest I’ve ever seen, but definitely in my top 5 this year for movies I can watch with anyone.
