  2. Charles G. Finney was a full-blown Pelagian heretic in the fullest sense of the word, Dr. Brown, and therefore was not even a Christian in ANY sense of THAT word. He is, however, an appropriate icon of the twin doctrinal errors of soteriological synergism and of revivalism. What were you thinking when you set him before Christ's people as any sort of doctrinal authority?

Finney denied Original Sin (the Pelagian heresy): "Original sin, physical regeneration, and all their kindred and resulting dogmas, are alike subversive of the gospel, and repulsive to the human intelligence" (Finney's SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY, p.236).

Finney also denied the doctrine of the Substitutionary Atonement in favor of the Moral Influence theory: "[The doctrine of the substitutionary atonement] assumes that the atonement was a literal payment of a debt, which we have seen does not consist with the nature of the atonement … It is true, that the atonement, of itself, does not secure the salvation of any one" (Finney's SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY, p.217).

You can read about the rest of his serious errors here:

Please repent brothers and sisters. Look into Finney's teaching found particularly in his Systematic Theology. You don't want to associate yourself with the arch-heretic of the Second Not-Very-Great-Awakening and the enemy of Christ C.G. Finney.

Shame on you Dr. Brown, for leading others astray! Shame, shame, shame! What in the world were you thinking!?!

    TLDR <><

  3. This is not good advice.

Christians are not a monolith. There are luke warm people who don't lift a finger, who's tough "revolt" talk is out of place. On the other hand there are those who are white hot and have thrown their bodies into the gears of the machine trying to stop it.

There are also flake Christians, who will never fight, they will only give their approval to a form of Christianity that makes them "well thought of" by the worlds powers.

Acknowledging there is that wide diversity of commitment, ultimately it takes a Gideon to break from the crowd and cut the Ashera poles down.

In the same way it took John Brown to start the Civil War.

In the same way, God will choose a man and call him to do things you wont like.

  4. By your logic, Gideon should have just preached until his neighbors got saved, and they would have cut their own Ashera poles down.

This ideal pattern you're talking about isn't ALWAYS every mans path.

  5. Bloody war should be a last act of desperation not the first option on this i agree but the divisions are so great people don't hear each other anymore if you disagree with someone and they realize this they stop listening.United we stand divided we fall.God has left this country.

  6. Dr. Brown, Finney denied the imputation of Christ’s righteousness and grounded justification in man’s obedience. He denied original sin and denied total depravity (even Prevenient Grace). He denied penal substitutionary atonement whereby our sin and guilt are borne by Christ and Christ’s righteousness imputed to us. These are not minor departures of the Gospel. I am surprised and disappointed you defended a theology that is outside the pale of evangelical orthodoxy (not just Calvinistic but Arminian as well).

And, do you also agree with him that revival is not a miracle but a natural of human effort? He said:

There is nothing in religion beyond the ordinary powers of nature. A revival is not a miracle, nor dependent on a miracle, in any sense. It is a purely philosophical result of the right use of the constituted means—as much so as any other effect produced by the application of means. . . . A revival is as naturally a result of the use of means as a crop is of the use of its appropriate means" [Charles Finney, Lectures on Revivals of Religion (Old Tappan, NJ: Revell, n.d.), 4-5].

  7. At a most fundamental level, the big problem with Christian churches today is their flawed doctrines of inherited sin and substitutionary atonement. Atonement is taught from a legal perspective, while the biblical/Hebrew view is relational. It is relational atonement, not legal atonement. A legal atonement ignores a person becoming truly righteous, reflecting the image of God, while a relational atonement requires reconciliation with God, which also requires a cessation of sinning against God if that relationship is to be restored and maintained. The blood covenant of Jesus is part of this relationship, yet is totally ignored.

A more accurate translation of Matthew 26:28: “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many UNTO the RELEASE of sins.” In other words, the blood covenant is something that people can enter into, and by so doing they agree to release sins, which is to stop sinning! This matches perfectly all the Old Testament passages of God promising to forgive those who forsake sin (2 Chron. 7:14, Is. 1:18, Ezek. 18 etc.), and does not have God demanding blood as some divine retribution for man’s sins. The plan is to assist mankind, that they would stop sinning, and thereby stop offending God, and then they can be reconciled with God through Jesus Christ. There is no reconciliation without stopping the rebellion, the sin.

The blood covenant requires a cessation of sin, just as a marriage covenant requires a cessation of considering others for that special relationship. There are terms and expectations and a relationship within the covenant.

  8. michael, i love you ❤️

    this is why.

one can always exposit on what’s happening, but does it address the truth?

    so what?! revival now!

q: the new covenant, can it be broken? or is it balls out until all hell breaks loose?

what ever happened to: men will no longer go to their neighbor and say: know God? forgiveness seems to be no hope.

  9. The Gospel:

    Plain and

    Simple

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent

beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your

minds should be corrupted from the simplicity

that is in Christ.” – 2 Corithians 11:3

Ask someone today if they are saved and

you will most likely hear responses like these:

“I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I

have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been

baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good

and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de-termine whether or not a person actually

knows the gospel that saves them. These use less phrases don’t describe a thing about what

the gospel is and has left a devastating effect

of people not knowing what it is that they are

saved from nor how they are saved; which

leaves a more serious effect of people ques tioning their salvation.

Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salva tion that is in Christ with vague church

sounding phrases that do not communicate

anything. But rather present God’s word with

clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel:

    plain and simple.

Sin was passed upon all men by one man

Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin

(Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of

condemnation and wrath – Hell – because of

this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good

works one might do we are still found sinners

in the sight of our Creator God. And all un righteousness and those who follow get in dignation and wrath. We cannot be found

righteous for by God’s law we are found sin ners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even

one law we are found guilty.

It is for this reason of not being able to

create our own righteousness and being born

in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus

3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in

the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross

2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath

and judgement that was intended for us sin ners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial,

and resurrection on our behalf that we are

able to have peace with God and forgiveness

of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good

news is unto all but only those that believe in

it are made righteous in Christ (Romans

    3:22).

It is then after we have heard this good

news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit

and we are now part of Christ’s body the

    church (Eph 1:13)

There is nothing that we need to do, no

good works that are required, and no bad

works that can separate us from our new po sition in Christ (Romans 8:35-39).

Faith and belief in this information from

    God’s word is the gospel.

The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your

heart. The gospel is not making him lord of

your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not

    being baptized with water.

So next time someone asks you if you are

saved. Give them the clear assured answer

“Yes! And let me tell you why!”

  10. I personally believe, the reason men like Finney are strongly attacked, is because they where used so mightily of God. Look at how the religions leaders of the day attacked our Lord. Every pathetic little thing they could twist and throw at him, they did. The information that they relay to us is significantly powerful in equipping the saints, and Satan don't like that. So he uses men, as he did with Peter, who attempted to prevent the Lords atoning mission, in coming against it. Same reason the gifts and operations of the Spirit are heavily attacked. He don't like things coming against his kingdom. Tounges, for example is such a powerful weapon and certainly learned groups refuse to stand on the validity of the scriptures, and apply much human reason to negate the facts.

  11. Why is Christianity always about money. You expect me to trust God for my salvation but you can't even trust God for your money. Why should I listen to you. It's like what Chuck Finney said the church asked him if they should pray for him and Finney told them no, their prayers never worked before.
