The Lord used Jonathan Edwards and others like him to bring about radical renewal in the church and colonial America.

  2. I think that Jonathan Edward was a great preacher of GOSPEL and contributed enormously to the spiritual awakening of Americans. I wish that Great Awakening arise again America in present world.

  3. To suggest that there exists a great awakening, is to also suggest that the speaker is awakened, while others out there are still in a slumber. Sermons based on "enlightenment" … "salvation" … "awakening" are all based on nothing other than human ego, from which non-human forms of life do not suffer. Had we evolved with paws, or hooves, rather than fingers … as a species … what then would be our claim to fame?

  4. I find it amazing that so many people believe Benjamin Franklin stayed a Deist all his life and never became a Christian. That point is belied by the fact that in 1787 at the Constitutional Convention, it was Franklin who call for a time of prayer before each gathering of the convention. Many scholar's and theologians attribute that call and the execution of it (although it was never voted on) for tuning around the bitter infighting at the convention which resulted in the original framework of our Constitution. Does not sound like a Deist to me! Franklin's request, ""We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded; and we ourselves shall become a reproach and by-word down to future ages…I therefore beg leave to move — that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the clergy of this city be requested to officiate in that service."
