I’m going to be completely honest, and if you disagree with me, that’s fine. The Chosen is not a good show to watch. My family started out watching it, liking it, but there were more and more problems the more we watched. Firstly, in my opinion, I can’t stand the way the portray Jesus casting out demons, mainly in the way He doesn’t; He never once commands them to leave like He does in Scripture. Secondly, and I can’t confirm this, but my mom said they quoted something from the Book of Mormon. Lastly, and the reason we stopped watching the show was because of a certain scene that happened when Jesus was sending His disciples out to perform miracles. Nathaniel (I believe that was the one) was depicted with a limp, and He asked Jesus to heal Him. Jesus responded that it would be a greater testimony if he kept his limp, or something to that effect. NO WHERE in the Bible does Jesus EVER refuse to heal someone. In fact multiple places it says that that He healed everyone who came to Him.
Why is this important? Because so many people believe it’s not God’s will to heal every time, or that He’s punishing them, or whatever. But Jesus was the express image of the invisible God, and He only did what He heard from His Father. Jesus isn’t God’s nice cousin; He is God fully in power and in character.
Now, why do I make this point so strongly, because I witnessed firsthand someone use that scene from the show, thinking it was in the Bible, to argue that God didn’t heal every time.
So I want everyone to be aware. We need to be careful when it comes to Biblical movies, because too many times people change things, and it can lead people astray. I want to be clear that I’m not hating on anyone. I just want everyone to be fully aware.
