  2. Notes: 40 DAYS PRAYER & FASTING 2025 | UNDERSTANDING THE PROPHETIC | RCN CANADA | DAY 23 |4TH FEB. 2025

    Theme:
The sermon explores the role of the Holy Spirit as the witness in both heaven and earth, guiding believers into spiritual realities. It emphasises how believers can overcome the world system (kosmos) by faith in Jesus Christ and through encounters with God's throne.

    Key Scriptures:
1 John 5:5-8 – The three that bear witness in heaven and earth.
John 16:13 – The Holy Spirit leads believers into all truth.
Revelation 4:1-2 – The call to ascend into heavenly realities.
Ephesians 6:12 – Spiritual warfare against the world system.
John 16:33 – Jesus has overcome the world.
2 Corinthians 4:18 – Fixing our eyes on the unseen.
    Purpose:
To challenge believers to seek deeper spiritual encounters, move beyond religious routine, and live as witnesses of God’s kingdom in a world system designed to oppose Christ.

    Main Teachings
    1. The Challenge of Overcoming the World
    The World System (Kosmos)
The Bible describes the world (kosmos) as an organised system that operates apart from God and seeks to shape human life according to Satan’s agenda (1 John 2:15-17).

John 16:33 – Jesus said, "In the world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Ephesians 6:12 – "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
    This system is designed to:

Control human thought and behaviour through cultural norms, laws, and policies.
Lead people into deception by presenting alternative moral standards.
Oppose true spiritual encounters and make Christianity a powerless religion rather than a supernatural experience.
The only way to overcome the world is to have faith in the true Jesus Christ (1 John 5:5). However, we must ensure we believe in the real Jesus, not a counterfeit.

    2. The Three Witnesses – Identifying the True Jesus
1 John 5:6-8 provides three ways to identify Jesus:

By Water – His baptism marked Him as the Son of God (John 1:32-34).
By Blood – His crucifixion and supernatural signs confirmed His identity (Matthew 27:51-54).
By the Spirit – The Holy Spirit continually bears witness of Him (John 16:13-14).
The Witness of the Spirit in Heaven and Earth
1 John 5:7-8 tells us that three bear witness in heaven and earth:

In Heaven: The Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit.
On Earth: The Spirit, the Water, and the Blood.
The Holy Spirit is the only witness present in both realms. This means that if we want guidance on heavenly or earthly matters, we must consult the Spirit (Romans 8:14).

Practical Application – How to Follow the Spirit’s Witness
Spend time praying in the Spirit (Jude 1:20).
Learn to discern His promptings in daily decisions (John 10:27).
Avoid making major life decisions without seeking the inner witness (Romans 8:16).
    3. The Throne of God – The Centre of Divine Government
    Encountering the Throne (Revelation 4:1-2)
John was invited to "Come up here", which signifies a spiritual summon into deeper realms of God’s presence.

    Why is the Throne Important?
It is the source of divine authority (Psalm 103:19).
It is the place where God's will is revealed (Isaiah 6:1-8).
It is the centre of all true Christian experience (Hebrews 12:22-24).
If a believer does not encounter the throne, he or she may:

Serve money instead of God (Matthew 6:24).
Make decisions based on fleshly desires rather than God's will.
    Lose spiritual direction and authority.
    4. False Christianity vs. True Christianity
    Jesus’ Warnings About Counterfeit Christianity
Jesus used metaphors to describe different types of false believers:

Swine (Matthew 7:6) – Those who continue in sin despite knowing the truth.
Dogs (2 Peter 2:22) – Those who return to their old ways after a religious experience.
Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing (Matthew 7:15) – False teachers who distort the Gospel.
    How to Avoid Counterfeit Christianity
Do not follow Christianity that lacks the throne (Revelation 4:2).
Test all teachings by the Word and the Spirit (1 John 4:1).
Seek genuine encounters with God instead of mere religious activity.
    Illustrations and Examples
    1. The Power of the Throne in Decision-Making
Apostle Arome Osayi shared how he was two weeks away from becoming a manager in the oil industry, but God told him to resign. Though it was a difficult decision, he obeyed because he had encountered the throne.

    2. False Prophetic Movements
Many false prophets are still operating with real spiritual power, but it is not from God. Just as Ahab’s prophets prophesied from lying spirits (1 Kings 22:21-23), many today operate in deception. Only those who have stood before God’s throne can discern them.

Practical Applications – Walking in the Reality of God’s Throne
Pray Until You Hear the Summon – Seek God’s presence until you sense His call to go deeper (Revelation 4:1).
Live by the Spirit’s Witness – Do not make decisions based on human wisdom, but seek the Holy Spirit’s direction (Romans 8:14).
Test Everything by the Throne – Ensure every doctrine, prophecy, and revelation aligns with God’s authority (1 John 4:1).
Stay Separate from the World – Recognise and reject the systems of the world that seek to infiltrate the Church (James 4:4).

    Key Takeaways
The world system (kosmos) is controlled by Satan and seeks to shape society against God.
The Holy Spirit is the only witness both in heaven and earth. If you do not follow Him, you will be deceived.
The throne of God is the centre of spiritual authority and must be our focus.
True Christianity is a supernatural experience, not just a religion.
Only men and women who have stood before the throne can be trusted to lead in the Kingdom.
    Conclusion
This teaching challenges every believer to seek deeper encounters with God, overcome the world system, and align their lives with the throne of God. Without standing before the throne, we risk being deceived by false Christianity or living a powerless religious life.

Let us respond to the summon and ascend into the presence of God, allowing the witness of the Spirit to govern our lives.
