I am reading Romans through again at the moment & I think that the Wesley's were thinking of chapter 7:15 – 18 when he wrote that song. It is not I who am sinning but sin that dwells within me. ESV. The last song I didn't recognize but the first three we sing often in church. Yes, I would enjoy hearing a few more of these types of worship sessions, singing through different songs by the old hymn writers of the past. So often we sing them in church but don't really know who wrote them & why or how they express the writers spiritual growth. Grace & peace to both yourself & Shereen this week from Australia
I’ve never heard o for a thousand tongues sung to that tune! Usually a strong powerful loud tune. I like your version very different‘feel’ to it❤ ok love divine is different tune too😂😮
I would love to learn more and grow in the hymns!! I’m so thankful for your channel as it is my main source of hymns, knowledge of them and hearing them beautifully performed!
The conversion hymn of the Wesleys' begins with these lines: "Where shall my wondering soul begin? How shall I all to heaven aspire?…" You will find lyrics & music on YouTube . In my region , the most well-known tune for this hymn is found in the search "Lordina the Soprano, Where shall my wondering soul begin"
Love hymns! ✝️🎶 Happy to have come across your page.🙌🏼 I enjoy both modern worship and hymns. Hymns definitely have a greater depth and stronger, deeper theology. Philip Bliss is another great hymn writer that would be good to hear you sing.
I enjoy both hymns and contemporary music. I love your heart for God so expressed in everything you do. You bring God so much joy and glory. Thank you!
I thank you for your research into the original words of And can it be. I never heard the line second rest. This is amazing to me, how that has been removed from all modern versions I have ever heard. Whether you believe in a second work of entire sanctification or like Lutherans your always a sinner saved by grace; I think even John Wesley thought that the overall approach should be to grow in grace and likeness to Jesus more and more. While we might make mistakes the overall tendency is to become more like him in love and holiness as our growing in understanding of that amazing love which set us free from the love of self and sin. What a laser light of insight to penetrate the darkness.
On a side note thinking of the Wesley's watch the film "A Great Awakening" previewing in the USA at the moment………Clips of it are on you tube at this time. t's a moving tribute to them and George Whitefield the great Evangalist of the 18th Century. https://youtu.be/H4-rMC88ylQ?list=PLhGO3fkH1wHLSBEHdZbNGOBpFwW88XPpC
