Thinking is very important part of spoken English because whatever you can think, you can speak. So make a habit to think in English. Everything takes time. In the beginning it will be difficult but when you will practice and practice it will be part of your memory and once it becomes your habit them English will come naturally from your mouth.

Speaking of a "rite of passage", in many countries from Mexico to the south of the continent (not all of them by the way) the age of 15 for girls is very important, it's called "La Quinceañera", it's a big family party. The old meaning of that party was to present this girl to society and says she was ready to become an adult through marriage. Nowadays it's just a traditional party where parents spend too much money, dance a lot and drink too much also. I don't have a good reference for this, but I think the American traditional "Sweet 16" was something similar in the US.
